I appreciate that working farms need these rules for the safety of their livestock but there is a way to communicate rules without making campers feel threatened. I left after one night.

The rules on this campsite specifically state all dogs are to be kept on leads at all times. To ensure you didn’t just release your dog, I explained the rights of a farmer regarding sheep worrying. You took it, by me explaining the law, as a threat towards you. It was merely information.
We have young lambs on the farm with their mothers and we have had dogs worry our sheep before. The malamutes and family were safely ejected from the farm, no shooting took place. Dog worrying is a countrywide issue which we ask all our guests to be sensitive to.
We always welcome dogs with good owners.
