Seeking somewhere small and simple for a serene stint in Shropshire? Swap bigger and busier places for a stay at Attwell Park Campsite, in a quiet location on a working farm around a 15-minute drive from Telford.
This fuss-free place with a portaloo but no other facilities is also around a 10-minute drive from a couple of other towns (Shifnal and Newport) with a handful of restaurants and in a fab location for idling around Ironbridge Gorge’s heritage sites (around 20 minutes).
Got your sights set on staying at this spot purely for a rest in the countryside rather than to shuffle around Shropshire’s historic sites? Chill out on the grounds with a picnic, perhaps blending a few leisure activities into the break by visiting Lilleshall’s golf club and sports centre (20 minutes’ walk away).
For longer wanders, head out on a pleasant four-mile walk down a private tree-lined drive to an award-winning pub near Newport. Feel free to take the dog – canine family members are permitted at this park.
Parking is available next to your pitch, so there’ll be no need to lug your luggage far.

Don’t miss the Iron Bridge that Ironbridge is named after either – it's a 100-foot cast-iron spectacle dating back to 1781.
Wander in Weston Park (10 minutes) next – set in the memorably named village of Weston-under-Lizard – with its fancy 17th-century mansion and landscaping by famed gardener Capability Brown before embarking on a lengthier amble up to Wrekin Hill (25 minutes).
Fan of flying? Zoom over to The Royal Air Force Museum (15 minutes), a must for those who like to amble around aviation-themed artefacts.
