Location is close to be within about 45 - 60 minutes of everything in the Lake District is a great advantage with the little ones. The camp site was nice and spacious whilst also keeping the facilities close. Everything was lovely and clean. Special should out to I believe 'Louise' who was lovely and accommodating.

The views are amazing, it’s a delight to spend time here. The facilities are immaculate. Walks directly from the campsite, perfect for well behaved dogs. We have been many times and loved it.

Nothing! Only thing I would keep in mind is some pitches are vulnerable to the wind - but who can predict the weather

This was my first time camping with my young children and we were not disappointed. It was very important that we were able to relax and there was minimal noise. The campsite was very peaceful and we were able to settle down at 9 for a well-earned sleep.
The pitch itself was excellent - we were on the top field and there was a dedicated area, with AstroTurf and a hedgerow on three sides of the pitch, which protected us from heavy winds (there was a weather warning the night we arrived!)
Facilities were beautiful, absolutely spotless with a nice and hot shower with decent pressure.
We were greeted very warmly by the host who was very helpful in showing us where to set up.
The children absolutely loved the site and I felt that they were very safe. Loved that there was a fire pit for every pitch on the top field, very cosy! The chickens were also a big highlight for the children!
We will definitely be going back.

The views on this small 11 pitch hill farm campsite are outstanding and the facilities clean and everything you require from quiet but well run site. You’re immersed in the environment of sheep, chickens, mountains, birds, horses and a direct view down to Brassenthwaite lake from the field. The orchard section is cosy and more sheltered from the wind and suitable for smaller tents. Everyone gets the best views of the Brassenthwaite lake and surrounding mountains from the two covered washing up sinks. There are fresh eggs on sale but be quick before they get snapped up. On a clear night you get a great view of the stars too.

Not much to dislike. The site is on the most northern end of the Lake District so is a bit of a drive to some places. 7.5 miles to Keswick, 19 to Grassmere. If it’s windy you will feel it there!

Another amazing stay at Irton House. We absolutely love everything about this site - beautiful views, lovely staff and spotless facilities. We can’t wait to come back for our third year!

As advertised. Good sized pitches, not over crowded (limited capacity). Excellent facilities which seem to be expanding. Hosts very welcoming and easy to contact. Great, quiet location.

Lovely stay again at irton farm, beautiful setting and views to Bassenthwaite

The location was perfect for us, less than 15 mins to Keswick and just up from Dodd. The view from the pitch was absolutely stunning, looking down on to Bassenthwaite Lake with views of all the peaks around it. This is sometimes enough for owners to attract visitors but this campsite doesn’t just hang on to this. Firstly, the owners were really friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome straight away. It’s a working farm and the family were busy each day, tending to the animals and building an additional facility.

It is a really well thought out site, tent pitches one side and vehicle pitches the other with facilities in the middle. And those facilities are the best I have ever seen on a campsite! Immaculately clean, well built and everything you need. There are only two showers and two toilets but this was never once an issue, just the right balance for the number of guests. These were seriously better than those in some of the cafes we went to in Keswick!

There is a small play area for the kids and a communal fire pit and barbecue at the top where the views of the sunset could be seen (although we never saw it as our toddler was always down in the van before we got chance!).

Pitch was very generous in size and a good distance from the neighbours - close enough to go over and chat but not so close they’re looking in your windows! Hookup was spot on, well maintained unit in the right spot. Hardstanding was definitely hard, lost quite a few pegs to it but that can’t be a complaint! Access and egress not an issue.

I’ve been to sites before which have had recent renovations and thought they were great only to see them dwindle over the years. This one however appears to be different. We spoke to a family who had been camping there for 30 years! Feels like the owners really care and invest in the site. Overall, we thought this was the best campsite we’ve ever stayed at and that’s not an exaggeration. Will definitely be returning!

Lovely views from the site. Dog friendly! Really good, clean facilities. Loved the chickens free roaming around, saying hello to everyone!

Wish we’d have known there were pitches opposite the orchard plots (not advertised on the site map) as we booked because we liked the idea of being more secluded, but had a tent pitched directly opposite us!
