We were part of a multiple booking for a family get-together. Allocated space in the Cider Mill Field, a slightly sloped field with a pitch size that was plenty big enough and relatively safe for the younger kids (a large hedgerow separated us from the field that had the lake and the play area in).
Although the lake is fed from a natural source the colour of the water is not that appealing. It’s a clay pit and due to the amount of activity stirring up the sediment the water is a brown colour. It didn’t put us off though. There were families picnicking in the field while watching their kids launch themselves off the jetty into the water, a couple with paddle boards, and some kayaks. There’s only a small play area which has two slides, a climbing wall, and a bridge.
Showers, toilets, wash-up areas all clean, and regularly cleaned by the looks of it. A couple of communal fridges & freezers to store any stuff you may have that needs it. A very small shop in reception sells a few bits but Tesco’s and Aldi are only 5-10 minute drive away.
There’s a few other ponds in a small wooded area, and a nice lake by a conservation area on the side of the site where the lodges are.

The quiet time hours are from 10:30pm to 8am and they are rigorous in their control. As a large family we would gather around the traditional fire pit after a late evening meal (as similarly other large groups in the field did) for a catch-up, chin wag, stories, jokes etc. Don’t even think about laughing out loud after 10:30pm as the noise police will be around. Numerous families on the site were paid a visit on the Saturday night, kills the mood completely.
Please note though, this is not a complaint, just a dislike. For some people this is obviously ideal. We were all aware of the terms and conditions when we booked and other places we have been to have also had similar rules (but not exercised as stringently).

The lake is lovely. Fishing was great and friendly staff

Shower didn’t work properly but after about 20 mins i finally had one.not the cleanest rest room but was ok. Second time camping there. The first I got ill which was probably down to having to flush toilets for others all the time which probably has no hand washing going on. First night was great. Second night had 4 young males come who talked until 4am. Third night same lads 2am had to much to drink and one was crying as he tried to jump in the lake. Other guy stopped him. But were a lot of drunk shouting. Not sites fault. Just unlucky.

The lake was great. We swam paddle boarded and jumped in off the jetty for hours. Lovely areas for the dog to be walked. Really friendly staff and they made life very straightforward and easy.

Loo block was a bit tired but it did not impact us at all as they were clean.

Lovely site clean, has a lake on site kids had hours of fun in. Spot of fishing too. We only welt friday to sunday but had a pleasant stay amd would rerurn

The site is in a really beautiful setting, well maintained and has open water for paddle boarding swimming. No need to hire the board bring your own.
It is full of families and dogs having the time of their lives.

The toilets are ok but showers are not great. You have to repeatedly press the button to get the water to run. Bring cable ties or something to hold the button in and that makes it a slightly better experience. Toilets and shower in the same room so can be humid when someone just showered.

Nice large camping field with shade. Amazing lake for wild swimming. Beautiful conservation area.

More water taps around the site would have been useful.

Very relaxed, it felt safe and friendly. Lake was great to cool off in and relax.

Distance from toilets from our pitch - lots of walking!

Great site - loved all the lakes, conservation area and spaces to walk around (with or without a dog). Very friendly helpful owners/managers. Useful to have the pizza van as a meal option.
