Beautiful location. We chose stream side camping (beware the hill up and down is quite large and poorly lit). The stream is lovely, lots of sheep in the fields and the facilities are clean with everything you need. There is a small cafe too. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Nothing! Except we had one unlucky night with an exceptionally large and noisy Duke of Edinburgh group. It would be better if large groups were put in a separate field or we were at least warned when booking. If you don’t encounter a group like this then everything is lovely!!

Scenery was lovely, stream right by our tent, had a little shop with drinks and sweets.

I’ve waited a month or so before reviewing to ensure I don’t give a knee jerk opinion on the place - but my views haven’t really changed, there’s quite a lot to dislike about the place from our stay.

The first night we arrived it had a school staying in all the lodges, so all evening was screaming kids til about 9pm - not to mention the kids kept walking to the field, that they weren’t even staying in that was just adults and walking through our actual campsites shouting and playing.. the toilets had been closed off for use of the school children only, so we had to use the toilet above, but either way it a trek to reach them, very very steep walk up and about 60m from the camp site. Also no lights for the first 50m to the toilets and a very rocky walk in the dark.

Very hard to get your equipment from the car park to the pitch, again about 100m steep hill and rocky on the final part.

Second night was lovely as we had the field to ourselves but when getting a drink from the shop we were warned a Duke of Edinburgh group of teenagers were staying the next night, but assured they’d be put in a separate field. On arrival back to our pitch the next day, we were surrounded by teenagers, at all sides, very close, there must have been 40 of them. We had the group leader pop over to us and let us know they’d be up at 5am and leaving, so they’ll be quiet, we, out of respect, went to bed early to ensure they all got a good nights sleep.

We were awoken at 4:30am to the teenagers talking at full volume, some even shouting and laughing, whilst packing up, this went on until 6:30am when the two men in our tent and 3 from other pitches came out and confronted them, they were very rude, and continued regardless.

We found their troop leader and complained and were honestly shocked they were put with other paying customers when a field was free opposite and empty.

The lake that’s advertised, you can’t swim in, we brought paddle boards and kayak’s just to be told we aren’t allowed to use it unless we pay them an extra fee and even then they weren’t happy about it, we found a lake an hours drive away instead.

All in all, unfortunately from our experience, I wouldn’t recommend this campsite and will not be returning - sorry this is so long, but wanted to ensure I gave na honest review.

Peaceful location, lovely to be able to pitch so close to running water, very helpful staff, convenient café/reception. Fantastic views from the top of site. Easy access onto The Gap mountain bike loop directly from site. Amazing value for solo campers, though.

Waterside pitch area gets very busy. Fairly awkward walk from the car to the pitch area. Wheelbarrows a nice idea but pretty useless on that path. Shower block very dated and gradually flooded around the urinals while I was there. No soap in the dispenser over the sinks. Really poor and unreliable WiFi provision. Sheep poo all over the camping field. Access roads are at times uncomfortably narrow for two-way traffic.

Too closely pitched, felt like sardines, noisy site and “reservoir view” definitely did not have any view of the reservoir which was very disappointing
Toilets could have been cleaner and only shower curtains not doors

Just a suggestion: the showers need a shelf to place clothes and toiletries, please!
Take earplugs as the sheep are a bit noisy.

The location and setting. It’s beautiful and quiet.

Nothing. The Cottage was just perfect for our adult family of five.

Nice Stream-side area for small tents, excellent parking capacity with well marked bays. Super friendly lady in the Cafe! WiFi available at the cafe, as well as morning coffee and bacon rolls

It seems a soil pipe is leaking across the path down to the stream-side camp area. Not very nice to walk through it especially due to the smell

Lovely lady dealing with check in and also the cafe service. Relaxed site. Really out of the way feel of the setting. Warm shower and clean loos.

Couple of extra 'formal' paths from car parking to pitches would have been a welcome addition.
