Great views, local pub and attentive host. With so many sites making changes to rules it’s rare to find one that ticks all the boxes. Fires allowed, bbqs allowed. Basic amenities which are fine for the weekend. Think this is our new local site to visit

No hot water in washing up sink

Meonside is a lovely place to stay. Quiet, relaxed and calm! Most of the time…..see dislikes.

The idiots who think it’s acceptable to play loud music and kick a football about and shout at each other late into the evening when everyone else on site, even big groups, can appreciate what they have around them. It’s the 2nd time it’s happened now and we are unlikely to return because of it.

Lots of space. Good access to walks and areas of interest. Clean facilities. Fire pit.

Not particularly well signposted on where to go on arrival. Walk to the car in the more quiet area, however obviously a bonus if travelling with children.

Fantastic small and quiet campsite in the beautiful South Downs. A short journey to the picturesque village and pubs of East Meon and only a few miles drive to Petersfield market town, with its shops, the Heath lake and play park, and the open air heated swimming pool.
Had a great time with the kids.
Well looked after by the farmer who runs the campsite, he kindly helped light a fire for us in the fire pit provided and talked to us about his young herd of cattle next to the camp site.

Absolutely brilliant campsite, spotless, beautiful and so quiet! Lots of space for kids to run around safely. Super helpful and friendly owner.

We absolutely loved the view and peaceful setting. The toilets aren’t great but they’re kept clean and there’s a sink with running water.

First time staying here, and it won't be our last. This site was perfect for us, a basic field where the kids (6&almost 4) could play safely with gorgeous views all round.

We walked into East Meon which took us 20 minutes with our children. It meant a walk along a country Rd for a while but the cars looked like they expected walkers along that stretch. It was easy for us to keep over and keep the children safe. The Rd wasn't too busy either.
Having a fire pit already there to use is a great idea, one less thing to pack!
Friendly owner, wasn't too busy to speak to our children. They loved it when they saw him driving up.

The only thing that I'd say is that the portaloos ended up very smelly. Clean when we arrived on Friday but by Sunday obviously they were well used.

It wouldn't put us off coming again, I'd rather have them to use than nothing at all. I would just maybe suggest some air freshners in each one?
There is an outside sink for hand washing afterwards which was great.

Beautiful location with stunning chalk stream along the edge of the field, which is mostly flat and sheltered. The toilets were clean but could have done with some hand sanitiser.

Unfortunately there was a large group of DofE teens who were rather loud, and a couple of large groups of adults who did not adhere to the noise curfew. Also, we waited all afternoon/evening to buy some firewood but no one came round so we went and bought our own in the end.
