Nothing. We are experienced campers and this was the worst camping experience of our lives.

We were looking forward to camping with our two young children in (quoting from the site description) a 'peaceful pop up spot' in 'secluded woodland '. We were shown to a pitch near the toilets when we arrived at 7pm by the female owner and pitched our tent once the broken glass had been removed.

The on-site bar played everyone music until 1130pm. Needless to say none of us got a wink of sleep until well after this. We were very disappointed and surprised as this didn't seem like the 'peaceful' spot we had expected. The site description makes a point of saying the 'silent generator ' (it certainly not silent!) goes off at 10pm. Not quite sure why this is relevant if the festival volume music plays until 1130!

The next night the music started up again at 7pm. My wife, speaking to the manager for an unrelated matter, asked him what time we might expect the music to finish tonight. She was told between 1130-12pm. My wife, politely, expressed her disappointment as we were expecting a peaceful site as per their own description. At this point he became aggressive, shouting at my wife saying 'you've seen our website, you know what we're about, don't come to my bar complaining about the music'.

My wife returned to our tent upset. 5 mins later the owner came to our tent asking to speak to me 'about your missus!'. Then, in full view and hearing of my wife and young kids, started shouting and swearing at me, saying the way my wife had spoken to him was 'unacceptable'. He clearly could not handle being asked a polite question by a 5'7, 37 year old, mother of two, business professional.

I tried to have a reasonable discussion but this was never his intention. By now be had clearly decided that the only way to sort this out was to have a fight, in full view of my two terrified kids. I was warned 'no one gets the better of me on my own land '. I genuinely couldn't believe what was happening so I walked away to try diffuse the situation to which he shouted 'don't turn your back on me pal' and 'no one walks away from me and gets away with it'. He was literally squaring upto me wanting to fight. We did absolutely nothing to warrant such a reaction.

Luckily is teenage daughter then appeared and, with the resigned look of a child who had seen this all before, tried to calm her dad down and remove him from situation, to stop him physically assaulting a paying customer. Before the male stormed off he made it clear we had to pack up and leave. My kids were absolutely distraught and very distressed. We packed up and drove our crying children home through the night.

I reached out to the owners via email and via pitchup and have had no response for over 3 weeks. I still am absolutely amazed about what took place.

I'm unsure if the male had anger management issues, is a misogynist or is just a nasty, aggressive character on a daily basis. My kids are now scared to go camping in case there is another 'nasty man'.

I'm sure the owner will deny all knowledge and offer a suitably salty reply to this review but I can honestly say this is all the absolute truth.

A great setting and really friendly, helpful owners. The bar area was a nice addition.

Second time we've stayed here now and gets better every time. Pick your own pitch can go in the woods or out in the open have a bbq/fire with beautiful views. Lovely bar area with wonderful people, the owners are amazing can't do enough and are so welcoming. The kids absolutely love it here, made loads of friends doing what kids should do, on bikes, making dens, rope swings all looking out for each other.
Added bonus of having toilets (that always have toilet roll at that) and warm showers, don't often see that at a wild camping site.
Thankyou guys for 2 wonderful weekends and we'll see you again next week.

Like the hotel california "once your there you don't want leave"

It’s back to basics but with a twist there’s a bar with crisps and peanuts and excellent company. Second time we’ve been outstanding if you wanna just relax with a fire can’t beat it thanks again.

Great that you can simply look round and find a pitch right for you. The bar is also a great addition. Location was perfect.

Some parts needed a bit of love, toilet and shower facilities weren’t great either.

Very unique campsite, the closest thing to wild camping experience. Very peaceful and quiet.

The entrance signage was difficult to see driving in, also very little signs in the park which made it arkward to drive around. I also noticed that some campers had pitched their tents near the entrance of the pitching areas which was a little inconciderate.

Love the fact it’s a little bit of wild camping but the safety of facilities, makes it easier when travelling/camping with small children.
It’s clear the owners love children and the whole site is geared up for families

Toilets could have been cleaned a bit more regular, but it was extremely busy and I suppose “wild camping” you don’t get fresh loos everyday!

Lots of beautiful spots to choose from, friendly staff, peaceful and relaxing. Really enjoyed our stay. Will definitely return. The bar area was lovely and reasonably priced! The near by car boot on Sunday morning was a lovely added bonus.

Everything was perfect except the toilets could use a bit more cleaning, there was no hand soap the whole time. Also maybe better signposting at the entrance as it was a little confusing where to go until we found the owner.

Rural setting, no caravans. Nothing but nature!

This site is really good, lots off different places to camp if you want open land or private wooded area. you can take you car anywhere too so makes it a lot easier. Staff are really helpful and Friendly. we loved the bar area and how chilled it was you can go and listen to music with a few beers and everyone was really nice then go back and camp in the pitch black with a fire. the site was really quiet too and we had a great sleep.
