Liked, everything!

We had a brilliant stay. The main reason for the trip was to spend some time fishing with my 12 year old son. The site manager and fishing aficionado was so friendly and helpful, he made it the perfect spot for my son to learn.

The site was quiet and peaceful.

There are 4 different lakes and the kids can only fish 2 of them, so you might not be camping next to the lake you fish at - best to call in advance if this is required.

The toilets and showers are a little dated, but spotlessly clean - perfect for a campsite!

Nothing to complain about the holiday park.

Only issue was me not planning a proper route!!

When travelling west on the A35, Google can suggest a very tight awkward set of country lanes. Definitely better to use the A352 from Dorchester.

Had a lovely view over the lake. A somewhat difficult walk through the woods to the local pub, rewarded by an excellent good value for money Sunday Carvery. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Loved our stay very helpful owners who were very kind to us and are very specific about the well being of their ponds and fish. Very keen to help us when we needed anything. The site is very well maintained. Although they very stocked up with fishing gear we found driving to shops to get food a bit of a chore . They have a store with a few things in but could be better stocked given the location distance from shops. Would be great if they had an activities room for the days when weather isn't great.

Me and my partner we stayed for 2 nights there. The place is really quiet, surrounded by nature, big trees, lakes. Clean bathrooms and showers.
The owners made us feel welcomed and gave us also tips about exploring the area.

It was nice to be able to stay next to the lake, husband enjoyed the fishing and it was nice to be together while he was doing this. Roy, the Bailiff, was very friendly and informative. It was a very enjoyable, quiet couple of days and we will definitely be back. Hubby found the shop to be well stocked with some good fishing 'stuff'.

Toilets were quite a way from our position, not great when desperate for the loo, and we couldnt seem to buy a new gas bottle on site, would only accept a like for like swap which is not much use when forgetting the bottle altogether! Not a huge issue but would have been helpful to be able to offer this service. Staff were great though, tried to help but juts couldn't.

Spent four nights at Lyon Gate, very nice. Roy is a legend very friendly and helpful. Amenities are old fashioned but kept clean and tidy. Lovely safe walks for the dog. Plenty of bins available to dispose of the dog waste.

Should of let us know that the showers required 50p to operate before we turned up. Also the speed humps are a bit vicious on the entrance. Didn't like facing away from the lake, as you only had a view of the other caravans.

Make sure you have enough 20 pence pieces for the showers!

Lyons gate holiday park is a wonderful, peaceful site that was made even better by the lovely staff,Clare and Roy. They really are an asset to this place.
The site is immaculate,the facilities are great and the peace is sooo peaceful!!
We stayed for 2 nights and wished we had longer there.

The shop could do with a little more stock/ choice. Wifi not great but that was a bonus haha
