Beautiful environment and views, peaceful with lots of space. Everything you could want/need from a non-electric site.

Lovely views, toilets were clean

Facilities were very basic & not many of them. Often the water was cold.
No sign for camping so most people ended up going the wrong way.
There was a loud party we had no warning about going well into the night.

Great campsite with spectacular views and plenty of space. The ground was easy to pitch on. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The facilities are in a big barn at the top of the site and are ok. Price for camping is low. I'd definitely return.

It's a big of a slog to the facilities from the bottom field but there's plenty of space to camp nearer. The showers were cold for the first 2 days but owners sorted it out once they were aware of a problem.

Location is beautiful

Rowdy campsite with party on-going all night. Arrived to a sign saying there was a party in the top campsite - which we were unaware of when we booked. The noise lasted till the early hours of the morning - drunk people screaming and shouting. Dogs in the campsite were obviously disturbed by the noise and were barking consistently throughout the night due to it. The owners were part of the party and we overheard them respond ‘if you don’t like it then leave’ to a complaint. Very unsettled night sleep, we left a night early and definitely won’t be returning.
The toilet/shower block felt like a hostel, the showers were cold and dirty with drunk people hanging out in the area. There was little presence from the owners making the campsite a free for all. There is a reason it’s so cheap - I’d recommend paying more, going somewhere decent and getting a good nights sleep, nice facilities and owners who aren’t rude/holding parties all night.

Really big space and site was so easy to find. Check in was perfect.

Two toilets and showers for females and two toilets and showers for males is no where near enough for the amount of people that are camping. Spend a lot of time hanging around for a free toilet or shower.

What a view. The site has stunning Lakeland fells all around with in a short distance. It is also a mile in either direction along A66 to Scales and Threlkeld, both with fantastic pubs with tasty food and refreshing beers.

Sadly there isn’t enough toilets or showers at the site. They also ran out of hot water rather quickly so not that great unless you want to wait for a cold shower. However the sites nightly charge is very reasonable for the very basic facilities on offer.

The site had so much space, three different fields and absolutely stunning views of Blencathra. The fields were well kept and the facilities clean.

We arrived at 2pm and the site was very quiet. We camped in the bottom field as this field is completely flat. By 9pm the site was very busy with lots of young groups who also chose to camp in the bottom field. They played loud music into the early hours and kept us up as they were shouting. Nobody was checking in on arriving guests and we saw nobody come round whilst we were there so it felt like anyone could have camped there unchecked.

We would return to the site midweek. But not on a weekend due to the busyness, noise and the lack of enforcing a noise curfew.

The location is great - you can easily get to some great hikes and local villages.

When it's busy, you need to get to the showers asap or you're drawing the short straw with a cold shower. We wanted to get a fire pit but couldn't get a hold of the owner - seemed others were having the same issue.
