Layout of pitches not too crowded.
Facilities on-site super clean. Presence of owners and workers they were always around and about and approachable fire pits and wood available to rent on site.
Local pub walkable on safe route in 15 minutes.

The area was very pretty, the little communal room was very handy. Bathrooms were clean and tidy.

Was eaten alive by bugs down by the waterfall at riverside camp would definitely not book to stay there again it was right out of the way of all facilities. Grass was very long and pitches were uneven.

Great campsite very good facilities. Good clean toilets and showers. Comfortable well equipped community room with tv. Covered cooking and washing up area. Good views. Very helpful and friendly owner. We would recommend for pleasant relaxed stay.

What a lovely site. Great size pitches, amazing facilities including communal area, hot showers and washing up water, undercover areas for bad weather days to sit or cook at. Good kids play area. Owners are friendly and have really thought of everything a camper needs

We loved Gill Head. Excellent location for exploring in our campervan. Great family feel, good amenities and shop with supplies equipment and fuel for fires.

Road A66 can be heard close by

We camped here for 3 nights with our 2 year old. The communal facilities on offer were good, the playground was a pleasant surpise and the farm animals, peacock and chickens were an added bonus.

The ladies washroom had a hairdryer and a step for the littles to reach the basins - all thought out.

The cleanliness of communal washroom ranged from ok to not great, but this really comes down to the people that use it. Cleaning spray is there for people to use but I didn't see anyone else use it when I was in there.

The portaloos near the campsite were not good. The smell was horrendous, the toilets were dirty and there were no hand towels.

Such a beautiful place! Lots of places to visit nearby. Beautiful scenery. Lovely shop on site. Nice and clean and lots of toilets. Big park just next to our pitch. Chickens walking around and the kids loved looking at the sheep!
Kipper cabin was so cute and cosy! Enjoyed renting the fire pit and the logs which was a lovely touch! Highly recommend!

Really bad signal and only WiFi available in the communal lodge which wasn’t the best. But was nice to switch off and enjoy ☺️

The location is stunning with the view of Blencathra to take your breath away. Very accessible from the A66 but it feels like you are in the heart of the Lakes.
The pods were warm and clean, the toilets and showers were excellent and within easy walking distance of the accommodation.
Mark and Amanda are really helpful and friendly and the site has a great ambiance. At night it looks like a Roman dwelling with all the firepits.

The location of Gill Head was perfect for exploring the North of the lakes. The campsite had some lovely views and it was a quiet family friendly site. The showers always had plenty of hot water. We never saw the owners much but when we did they were friendly.

We were disappointed with the standard of cleaning of the communal areas. The toilet/shower blocks had spiders and cobwebs around the windows that remained for our two week stay. Marks left in and around the toilet and hairs in the sinks/showers, I will not elaborate any more! We never went in to use the facilities and could smell that they had been throughly cleaned. The washing up facilities were often left with food in and around the sinks. Whilst we know some of this is down to others using the site, we felt if the general cleanliness of the facilities was higher in the first place, users would hopefully respect and clean up after themselves more.
