Even though it isn't an issue raised by many of our guests, we are sorry to hear that you found the sound of a few passing cars and the occasional train, disturbing, especially since our guests usually comment on how quiet and tranquil our site is.
Also, with regards to our CCTV system, we would like to point out that the camera you are referring to is actually aimed at the entrance gates to our middle and bottom fields and it just so happen that the pitch you were on, could be seen in the distance. Our CCTV cameras are a crucial part of our security system - an aspect most of our guests appreciate and find very reassuring. Could it be that you felt it intrusive because our warden found you overnighting in your car rather than your tent, regardless of it being made quite clear on your arrival that it is not allowed on our site? Since your actions were in breach of our Terms and Conditions, we could have asked you to leave, but we are not in the business of ruining anybodys' holidays so, instead, we allowed you to remain on site, providing that you refrain from sleeping in your vehicle for the rest of your stay. Another site might not have been so accommodating.

Communication when we were stuck in terrible traffic was excellent, helped make us feel better when we weren’t on the move. Facilities were clean and the showers ran hot. Site is close by to the pub which offer you discount on food for staying at Whitemead which is an excellent bonus and the trains on other reviews didn’t bother us and we were right by the gate.
Local bus takes you right to the drop off for durdle door only a 10 mins bus ride and we took the 30 minute walk to Monkey world.

The tent pitches were so muddy! My shoes were caked in mud, could feel it squelching under my ground sheet when walking around in tent.
Flies on the site on a few occasions getting in my face. Also quite a lot got into the tent at one point and had to clean them away with the wipes.
Allocated electric socket didn’t work so had to use my neighbours one, luckily no one was there. Would of discussed it with reception but I was out early, and back late. It wasn’t a massive issue because no one else showed up . I did send an email but didn’t get a response..
I get the impression this is more of a caravan park, and people can bring a tent and camp if they want. But I don’t think the grass is cared for well enough to camp…

we appreciate your feedback - regarding the trains the last train is at midnight and they run again from 6 am, the A road is the other side of the train line and we are situated on a B road which is very quiet at night, we are close to Bovington and Lulworth where are are 2 army bases and typically on a Tuesday evening they do have training practice,
Regarding the grass pitch, you had been pitched on one of our dryer pitches for this time of year. we did have a lot of rain before your visit and also more rain that week, therefore the grass had become very wet being the start of October and also towards the end of our season where we have been very busy season with campers therefore the grass has not had chance to grow back, we do maintain our pitches regular and are cut weekly but sometimes the weather gets the better of us.
Regarding flies, that is out of our hands as this is a natural thing for nature we are near a meadow which a river runs through and also a neighboring farm which holds sheep, and they are in the field next to our site.
regarding the electric socket as soon as your email had come in we sent a member of staff down to take a look at the socket to correct the issue as your where not on site we couldn't talk to you about this and therefore left you plugged into the socket with out disturbing your belongings.
we do not allow people to come in and just pitch up we have a strict booking policy, where people are then allocated pitches best suited for them.

The campsite has a real charm and homely feel. The staff; Shane, Monica and the rest of the team can’t do enough for you!
The showers and toilets are immaculate. There is a lovely radio station streamed into the showers playing all the hits from the 70’s 80’s and 90’s which really gave us pleasure during our showers!

Very friendly and helpful site owners, have us some great tips on where to eat, and The Ship Inn was literally a minute walk away, and great food.
Lovely tidy quiet site and very close to the Tank Museum which was perfect.
