Beautiful countryside very nice owners

Although facilities were basic they were adequate just needs some TLC.

The stay

Friendly greeting when we arrived.

This isn’t a campsite so much as a well equipped car park. We were parked on a concrete area divided by a concrete wall from another concrete area. Sorry but it was dismal.

Also the lanes are tiny if you are in any kind of tourer it was not the easiest to get to.

Posizione: vicino ad un villaggio molto grazioso e raggiungibile a piedi. Check in automatico con istruzioni indicate all'ingresso.

Poche piazzole con ghiaia. I bagni potrebbero essere più puliti, l'acqua della doccia a volte finisce perché collegata all'abbeveraggio degli animali. Difficoltoso il ricarico dell'acqua perché in un angolo su terreno dove si rischia di impantarsi. Da prevedere l'odore di silo.

Level pitch as former farm building ( maybe a silage clamp?)

You need to remember to take your own loo roll as each toilet cubicle had empty rolls
Dog poo on the pitch which we didn’t notice initially and was hard to spot / avoid as was on the gravel/ hardcore area
Watch out for metal in the concrete where there may have previously been supports when it was used as a farm building and had not been totally removed so was slightly raised above the concrete level, also the hardcore / gravel area had quite a few small hidden items / rubbish including metal, left by previous campers
We booked last minute so should have read and checked up the facilities ,as we were surprised how basic it was

We had a fantastic stay at wheeldon farm. My 5year old son got the chance to have a go on an electric balance bike, he loved it. Andrew was very patient with him. He can't wait to go back. We stayed 2 nights in our campervan the showers were lovely & warm straight from the biomass boiler. So lucky we chose wheeldon as it had hard standing pitches and it rained a fair bit. We never let rain stop play though. We had such a great weekend. We visited Penny well farm with the kids, salcombe Burnham on Sea. We could have stayed a lot longer as it's such a great location. So much to do nearby for kids & adults. Close to Dartmoor & beautiful south Devon seaside towns. We will definitely be back again. Thank you.
