The relaxed easy atmosphere, beautiful lakes and scenery, lack of usual campsite facilities

Nothing except the rain, but even that sounded beautiful on the roof of the tent!

Beautiful place in a lovely tranquil setting.

Its a bit out of the way so you need a car or come well equipped!

Absolutely perfect. It's like being off grid but with shower and mains hook up!
The welcome was amazing and nothing was too much trouble, even to the point that there had been so much rain, they found me a patch of hard standing so that i didn't get stuck when leaving.

I love it here. This is a simple campsite but it has everything you need. The staff are always helpful and friendly, who went out of their way to source charcoal for me when I forgot to bring my own. We're already considering returning in the warmer months.

If I have to put something it's no WiFi but I knew this beforehand and it isn't a criticism.

Staff very friendly, helpful, welcoming and approachable. We stayed 2 nights with our young boys who are interested in fishing. We bought some bait from the shop there and had a great day fishing. We didn't use the shower block or toilets as we used our own facilities in our caravan but I think they were open. Generous pitch size. Would stay again

The location of the campground is nice with a view over the fishing lakes and countryside all around. There is plenty of space and the option of electric hook-up at a reasonable price is a good one.

The site is quite close to a fairly busy road with regular traffic at fairly high speed which creates a continuous background noise. The pitches are mainly on a slight incline making it hard to find a good flat position for a tent. Semi-permanent residents in the site have dogs which use the top of the campground as their toilet - although the owner cleans up quite readily, it isn't a nice thing to find outside your tent or near your car and of course they piss on whatever they come across. The toilet, shower and washing up facilities are tired-looking, grimy and rather minimal (1 shower for men, 1 for women, 2 toilets each), although they are cleaned regularly and stocked with hand soap and paper towels. Walking in the local area (from the site) is available, but local farmers don't seem welcoming and electric fences, overgrown paths and broken styles are common. The owners/operators didn't seem very interested in ensuring that people were enjoying their stays.
