  • Stylish single safari tent in Tennessee, 20 mins from Sevierville
  • A 25-minute drive to Dollywood; several wineries close by
  • Well-equipped tent with kitchen, barbecue and ensuite bathroom
An outdoor break in rural Tennessee, but make it luxury – that's the plan for guests at Firefly Season Glamping, on the banks of Douglas Lake about 20 minutes’ drive from Sevierville. This is a fabulous location for exploring, with all sorts of activities and attractions within easy reach – you’ll be able to get out walking, ride ziplines, hit waterparks, visit wineries and explore animal attractions all within a half-hour drive of your accommodation. And that's before you’ve even planned your day trips to Dollywood, Dolly Parton’s Stampede and Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies… It’s a fabulous place to stay too, as you’ll be tucking yourselves away in a stylish safari tent that’s all set up for a comfortable and convenient take on camping. This solid structure (with canvas walls on a wooden base) sleeps two in a spacious queensize bed and has both heating and air con to keep the temperature just right in all seasons. The tent has its own ensuite bathroom, a living space with TV, a large dining table and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, cooker, microwave, kettle and toaster. Bed linen and towels are provided to help you travel nice and light. No doubt you’ll want to spend some time sitting out in the open air while you're here too – and that's made all the more comfortable with the provision of outdoor rocking chairs on the porch along with a barbecue where you can cook up an alfresco meal.

Local attractions

Without a doubt, the biggest attractions around here are those run by Dolly Parton – the rides and shows of Dollywood have become famous the world over, and while the dinner events at Dolly Parton’s Stampede are perhaps less well known, they’re also well worth exploring, with music, horseback tricks and special effects. Both are about 25 minutes’ drive away. Also popular with visitors is Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies (40 minutes' drive), home to thousands of aquatic animals and with a busy programme of activities including feeding sessions. For other animal encounters, try Smoky Mountain Deer Farm and Exotic Petting Zoo (10 minutes) or Parrot Mountain and Gardens (20 minutes). Active outings nearby might involve trips to Legacy Mountain Ziplines (20 minutes), Foxfire Adventure Park (25 minutes) or Soaky Mountain Waterpark (half an hour). There are woodland trails in Cherokee National Forest (35 minutes) and underground landscapes to explore at Forbidden Caverns (15 minutes), or you could set off on a tour of the area’s wineries (several within a half-hour drive).
