If you’d like to get out into the open but not stray too far, perhaps you’d like to try out some of the watersports available in the resort (paddleboarding, kitesurfing and pedalos among them), take a bike ride along the banks of the river Ter or go walking in the Montgrí natural park. Scuba outings to the marine reserve around the Medes Islands are available at local dive centres too. A little further afield are a pitch and putt golf course in Torroella de Montgrí (10 minutes’ drive), kayak excursions from Colomers (20 minutes) or days spent splashing about at the local waterparks Aquadiver (35 minutes) and Aquabrava (45 minutes). To add a flavour of the area’s history and culture to the mix, stop by at the medieval villages of Pals, Peratallada and Regencós (all 20 minutes) or visit the city walls, Arab baths and cathedral in Girona (45 minutes). The Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres (40 minutes) is a must-visit for all art lovers, or you could make a day trip to the colourful streets and museums of Barcelona (an hour and 45 minutes).
