- Wellbeing-focused glamping site based on chakras and Kabbalah concepts
- Close to hiking, fishing and cycling; half an hour's drive to Maribor
- Forest walks, aura scanning and crystalotherapy available on site
Many sites take care to position their glamping units in attractive positions – but this is a place that goes beyond that. The cottages at Glamping Bionic are placed along the chakra lines at this peaceful rural location, and arranged in the design of the Kabbalah Tree of Life, which represents the structure of the human soul.
The design of the cottages themselves isn’t an accident either – they’re based on an innovative Fibonacci golden-ratio design and crafted from entirely natural materials (particularly local wood and reeds), with each cottage representing a particular thematic chakra. Each one is cosy and comfortable, with a kingsize bed, an ensuite bathroom, a living area and a kitchen area with cooker and fridge. Towels, bed linen, heating and air conditioning are all included, and there’s a private terrace with outdoor furniture for alfresco drinks and relaxation time.
No doubt you’ll have worked out by now that this is a place that takes its wellbeing very seriously – and it’s not just the design of the accommodation. You’ll be able to walk seven chakra paths into the site’s forest area and join activities such as aura scanning and crystalotherapy. That process of reconnection with the natural world might also take you out into the nearby natural parks for walks, climbing, cycling, fishing and a bit of wildlife spotting.
The town of Slovenska Bistrica is about 15 minutes’ drive away for shops and places to eat, with Maribor (Slovenia’s second-largest city) about half an hour away.

Local attractions
Once you’ve had a stroll around the forest areas on site, head out to explore the nearby natural parks – the Boč-Donačka gora Natural Park and Štatenberg Landscape Park are both close by, with attractive and popular trails. The site owners are happy to recommend trails nearby – perhaps the Laporska Trail for walkers or the Močvirska Trail for cyclists. Ribnik Farovec (five minutes' drive) is a good spot for some fishing.
Add a dose of history and culture to your explorations with visits to Castle Štatenberg (10 minutes) and Studenice Dominican Convent (five minutes), where you can also sample the local spring water. For a taste of other local liquids, there are numerous wineries scattered around this area that you can visit (a particularly nice thing to do on a bike tour).
Beyond all this, you may like to take a day meandering around Maribor (half an hour), exploring the cobbled streets of the Old Town, visiting the Museum of National Liberation and paying homage to the world's oldest grape-producing vine at the Old Vine House.
