  • Small and luxury glampsite five minutes’ drive from Gualdo in Marche
  • Hiking from the site; Monti Sibillini National Park 20 minutes’ drive
  • Stunning valley views from furnished bell tents; breakfast included
It’s all about the spectacular vistas at Glamping Gualdo, a pocket-sized glamping site with some pretty big views over rural Marche to the Adriatic Sea. Set in countryside five minutes’ drive from Gualdo in the province of Macerata, the luxuriously kitted-out bell tents are designed as peaceful getaways for couples, families and indeed anyone who enjoys slow tourism far away from holiday crowds. Each tent sits on its own platform and has spectacular valley views. With their own exclusive-use private bathrooms in wooden cabins nearby, they can sleep up to four guests and are kitted out with beds (linens supplied), wardrobe space, seating, air-con fans and mosquito nets, with lots of thoughtful design details to make your stay as relaxing and cosy as possible. What’s available on site? A shared kitchen for starters, although breakfast is included. You can also book sessions in the hot tub, or an evening aperitif showcasing local cured meats and cheeses served with locally sourced garden produce (it’s so generous that it’s really supper by another name). Hire e-bikes on site to explore the Marche region, play table tennis, board games and darts, or just sit back and enjoy the gentle pace of life on this leafy estate centred on the owners’ soft-stone country house.

Local attractions

The Marche region is a haven for anyone into sustainable, slow and sporting tourism. You can find numerous hiking routes direct from the site for all levels of ability, as well as mountain biking and rock climbing. If you need advice, please just ask the friendly site owners, who will be happy to help you plan your holiday. One place they may direct you to is Monti Sibillini National Park (20 minutes’ drive), where you can hike through wetlands and forest, or scamper up Monti Sibillini itself (45 minutes) to look over undulating peaks right to the Adriatic. Alternatively, drive to the traditional village of Castelluccio (an hour and a half) to see its vibrant displays of alpine wild flowers in summer. If you’re keen to get out on the water, manmade Lago di Fiastra (40 minutes) has facilities for wild swimming off lakeside beaches, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding. On your drive back to base camp, stop off at Gole del Fiastrone (half an hour) for a stroll up the Fiastra river gorge.
