  • Full serviced motorhome pitches on the edge of Morbegno
  • A 20-minute drive to Lake Como; an hour and a half to Milan
  • Close to Valtellina bike path; shops and restaurants a short walk
With Lake Como in one direction and the Italian Alps in the other, plus easy access from the SS38 linking the two, it’s no wonder Morbegno is a popular spot for a stopover or a longer stay in the Valtellina area. In a quiet location on the edge of town, about 15 minutes’ walk from the centre, is Area Camper Valley Camp, a simple site with fully serviced hardstanding pitches for motorhomes and campervans. Kids and dogs are welcome here, and the marked pitches all have space for an awning or gazebo plus a barbecue and some outdoor chairs (although you’ll also have access to a barbecue area and picnic tables). A warden is on site throughout the day, and there's a coded gate in place to keep things secure through the night. Being on the edge of town means there’s a peaceful vibe here, and some lovely views up towards the mountains. The Valtellina bike path is about a minute’s cycle away, and it’s a few minutes’ walk to a supermarket, bar, restaurant or the local playground. There are more shops and places to eat in the town centre, and the town has a railway station and bus stops for your outings.

Local attractions

You’ll have plenty of choice for outings in this area – starting close by with cycle outings on the Valtellina bike path and several hiking trails nearby, including a few themed nature and heritage routes as well as those running through vineyards and viewsome scenery. For a gentler stroll, just wander around Morbegno to see the frescoes of Palazzo Malacrida and visit the Church of San Giovanni Battista and Museo Civico di Storia Naturale. Heading west, you’ll hit the shores of Lake Como in about 20 minutes. What you do once you’re there is up to you – head out on the water for a boat trip from Varenna (40 minutes' drive), explore stylish Bellagio (an hour) or visit heritage sights like Santa Maria di Piona Cistercian Abbey (35 minutes) and Villa Monastero (40 minutes). It may be that you’ve chosen this location solely for rural landscapes – but it might be worth also noting that it’s also well placed for city day trips. Both Bergamo and Milan are about an hour and a half away by car, and there's also a direct train service to Milan for fuss-free outings.
