What a swankily well-appointed site this is: in a pretty parkland setting but just 20 minutes' drive from the Emilia-Romagna region’s lively, handsome and historic capital of Bologna… as well as 20 minutes’ drive from hiking and nature spotting at Park Gessi Bolognesi and Calanchi dell'Abbadessa. A shuttle bus to Bologna’s centre stops just outside the site for when you fancy a city-based jaunt, with several services running from early morning throughout the day and into the early evening (and returning regularly too), arriving into the city centre within 15 minutes. Further (and even more regular) bus options are short walk away. Centro Turistico Città di Bologna is a splendid site for families, with ample leisurely pursuits for kids and grownups. A spacious sun terrace is set around a large seasonal outdoor pool so that kids can splash about while adults bask by the poolside; when they’re not in the mood for getting wet, a slide, a climbing frame and a merry-go-round are all at the shaded playground. There's also a fitness room for grownups, available for a small fee (and perhaps handy to know about should you have overindulged on lasagne, tagliatelle and the city’s famed bolognese sauce...). For eats on site, the modern restaurant serves traditional dishes made using local ingredients for breakfast in the mornings, and opens again in the evenings for drinks with appetisers all season round as well as pizza in summer.

Great spot near Bologna with easy bus access. Friendly staff, clean loos and showers. Food and bar good too. Watch out for mozzies – a real bother for many. Some found it pricey, with pool extras, and dodgy Wi-Fi. A few said loos were old and pitches tight.

Disliked WLAN praktisch nicht vorhanden, nur an der Rezeption und Pizzeria.
Brot/Brötchen sehr teuer.
Keine Wasserzapfstellen, nur im Waschhaus.

Liked This was a site situated just outside the city in a rural situation. Very quiet with just a small bit of road noise in the background. Very secure with 24/7 reception. Pitches were fine and mostly shaded by trees. Facilities were clean. Nice bar and restaurant on site. Good cycle route into the city. Bus service operated from the site entrance every 2 hours or more regularly a short walk away.

Disliked It did what I wanted so no complaints.

Disliked Original pitch given had a tree in the middle so we moved, but even in the next pitch we couldn’t put our awning out fully

Liked We had booked a tent pitch but, when we got there, a couple in a motor home had pitched across two sites! There were no usable sites for our tent by this time (late afternoon) and so we upgraded to a bungalow at extra expense. This bungalow was clean and well serviced daily. The restaurant was excellent. A bus goes every 2 hours from reception to the heart of the city.

Disliked Somewhat chaotic arrival; see above comment about our site having been taken (with no follow-up from front desk staff). The wifi was non-existent.
