Spacious, peaceful spot near canals & cycle paths. Friendly staff appreciated. Hot water/showers cost extra. Playground & petting park are great for families/dog owners. Some check-in chaos, noise & few bins noted. Can be pricey with extras.

Liked The ladies and family wc/showers very clean.
Great play park and animals for the children. Plenty of electric hook ups.
Walking and cycling routes nearby.
No space on the “motorhome” section so we were on the main field. All ok once we found a hookup in reaching distance.
Washing machines work well €4 each so not too costly.
Overall for what appears an adhoc site, it works well!
€1 for showers. Water hot!
Despite large groups, it was peaceful and respectful at night.

Disliked When we pulled up it was very busy. Not sure who we spoke to but he didn’t fill us with much confidence when we asked where we park up and he said “drive around and see. The motorhome section was full, but some go some leave”.
Gents showers/WC smelt awful.

Liked Very chilled atmosphere, friendly people around, very quiet, pitches are big.

About 40min walk to the closest town and about 30min to closest restaurant.

Disliked Wasn’t sure where my pitch was when we arrived but after speaking to someone, at least we had the code for the facilities.

We just picked a free pitch and setup.

Nowhere to fill with drinking water.

Liked Freie Platzwahl fand ich gut. Wir standen direkt am Spielplatz und hatten die Kinder immer im Blick. Gut war auch der Biergarten und der kleine Zoo mit Ziegen und Eseln. Auch die Gegend mit den Kanälen und Radwegen waren sehr interessant.

Liked Good, clean facilities. Helpful and friendly guy when we arrived and good pitches. Friendly animals you can pay.

Disliked Bit annoying having to pay for hot water to wash dishes but not a big deal.

Liked Ein sehr schön und ruhig gelegener Platz. Werden ihn auf jeden Fall wieder ansteuern.

Disliked Leider fehlt eine Möglichkeit sich bei heißen Wetter (welches wir hatten) ein wenig ab kühlen zu können. Gerade für die Kinder! Ja der Kanal ist nur wenige Gehminuten entfernt aber abgesehen davon daß es wenn überhaupt nur geduldet ist dort zu schwimmen für Kinder einfach zu gefährlich ist mit dem Schiffverkehr. In dem toten Arm des Kanals fahren zwar keine Schiffe aber dort gibt es auch keinen wirklichen Zugang für Kinder zum Wasser und es wird direkt wie im Kanal üblich schnell tief.

Liked The location was good, plenty of choice of pitch. Thought the porter loos dotted about are a great idea.
Easy check in with the most laid back chap I've ever met.
The facilities are good and worth the €1 or €2 cost depending on which showers you use. I splashed out the €2 on the family showers which were great value.

Disliked Very large site which did fill up.
The bar /restaurant wasn't great rude and very abrupt staff.

The riverside Roman-Lippe Route bike path goes right past the campsite on its way through the Ruhr to the River Rhine, and there are easy family rides and strolls along the Wesel-Datteln Canal towpath to its major junction with the Dortmund-Ems Canal (20 minutes’ walk). Add a bit of culture into the mix with waterside walks in the gardens and guided tours of the Baroque-era Nordkirchen Palace (20 minutes’ drive). The lovely city of Münster (45 minutes) rewards a day trip with gorgeous gabled architecture around the Prinzipalmarkt central square, and 800 works of art by Picasso in his namesake art museum. Once an industrial centre, the lively city of Dortmund (half an hour) has reinvented itself as a cultural hotspot, with art museums, a zoo and classical performances at the modern concert hall. At the end of a day exploring, grab a glass of chilled wine in an alfresco Alter Markt café. You can mug up more on the industrial heritage of the Ruhr district with a visit to the Henrichenburg Boat Lift in neighbouring Waltrop (15 minutes).
