  • Quiet waterside site with leafy surroundings at Long in Picardy
  • Abbeville 20 minutes’ drive; the Bay of Somme 40 minutes
  • Takeaways available; fishing, walking and cycling available on site
When peace and calm are what you crave, Camping Ushuaïa Villages Le Grand Pré at Long in Picardy might be what you’re looking for. This family-friendly site has pitches overlooking the marshy ponds of Marais de Long and Longpré-les-Corps-Saints, where you and the family can spend chilled time together while reconnecting with nature. The carefully nurtured leafy ambience of this site fits well with guests looking to spend time outdoors. You can go fishing in any of the ponds nearby, enjoy long walks in the marshes or organise family cycles along the towpath by the River Somme. But if that’s not quite enough for boisterous kids, then occupy them with a round or two on the mini-golf course and games of pétanque back on site. There’s also a play area for your youngest offspring, and a heated swimming pool that’s open between June 15 and August 31. Still not enough to wear out the kids? Hopefully a day pedalling the Somme Valley Cycle Route (five minutes’ walk) along the river and through woodland will finally exhaust you all. Then all you need to do back on site is order a takeaway featuring local produce – and put your feet up and get back to relaxing.

Local attractions

Anglers will be delighted with the on-site options for fishing for carp and pike on the various ponds – a permit is required. There are numerous gentle hiking trails suitable for all the family around the Marais de Long that can be accessed from your accommodation, and five minutes’ walk sees you on paths beside the River Somme. Anyone who’d prefer to be out exploring the Picardy countryside can hire bikes to pedal along the Somme Valley Cycle Route (five minutes’ walk), and if you fancy a trip down the river, kayaks and paddleboards can also be rented from reception. If you’ve got kids who want more high-octane activities, then the rope courses and tree-top trails at Accrobranche (35 minutes’ drive) will test their mettle. Include a bit of culture on your holiday agenda with a visit to the UNESCO-listed bell tower in historic Abbeville (20 minutes). Lovely Amiens (35 minutes), its ornate Gothic-era cathedral and riverside bistros also makes a good day out, or you could head for the Bay of Somme (40 minutes) to walk the ramparts in the pretty medieval village of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme.

Jonc 2 bedroom static caravan

Liked Bed was comfy.

Disliked Everything else. We booked lake view but the bushes and grass was all over grown so we couldn’t see anything. There was rats everywhere even dead ones on the kids park. Fire alarm was out of date in the caravan. The caravan was not cleaned. There was dirt everywhere. We booked 3 nights but we left after one night and tried to give back keys and couldn’t as there was no staff. The office was always closed. It wasn’t really a holiday destination, it was a place people lived which was obvious. We emailed after we left asking for a refund to be told that we was wrong and the owner did clean the caravan and if we didn’t like the rats that’s our problem. We took photos and are still trying to get a refund but i don’t think the owner cares. The pool had a very dirty cover over it so even if it was open, I wouldn’t have used it.

Electric grass touring caravan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Not a lot

Disliked Well
Could not get through the entrance as too narrow - no chemical toilet emptying facility - only 2 toilets and 1 shower for the whole site - and they were a long way from our caravan pitch - would never stay again! - only 4 caravan pitches that we saw and they were tiny.

From the manager: Monsieur,

Cordialement
