Friendly staff, clean ablutions, great on-site restaurant. Spacious pitches, some with lake views. Fun pool & fishing. Basic facilities, but quirky charm & peaceful vibe. Highly recommended family spot!

Liked Everything - the pitch was brilliant, the swimming pool was excellent. There was so much for older children to do and the adults really enjoyed a walk around the lakes. The facilities were nice and clean. I would come back again

Disliked It was a bit of a surprise about the unisex toilets

Liked We were pleasantly surprised at the quirky campsite. We stayed twice, once at the beginning of our trip and then again at the end. Our first trip was peaceful, we were round the 'quieter' side over the field of corn and near the smaller shower / toilet block. We preferred it here, was quiet, less people walking passed and generally a more pleasant stay. We ate in the restaurant twice and both times enjoyed a good burger! Our dog was also happy here.

Disliked Our second trip wasn't quite as peaceful. We were on the other side near lots of camper vans and the caravans. There is a quiet by 10pm rule on this campsite but our first night of our return trip was far from quiet until about midnight. There was loud music, moving cars, noisy children and someone deciding to throw all their bottles into the recycling bin at about 11pm. Our second night was much quieter though.

Liked Wow, what a cool place! We really loved the vibe. Such a pretty place with nice lakes. Fabulous bar in the saloon theme. We didn’t use the restaurant as we had already bought groceries but it looked great and lots of people going to dine. Friendly and helpful staff, nice pastries in the morning, and brilliant pool. Clean facilities. All round just a really fun stopover on our way back to the ferry port. Thanks very much!

Liked The fishing lakes were pretty

Disliked Restaurant food was tragic, dry and while the andouilles is a local delicacy even us as people who will generally eat anything found it totally unpalatable

After a few days around the forest or swimming/chilling on site, get along to other highlights of the region, like the medieval town of Laon about 12 kilometres away, where top picks include its its 12th-century cathedral and a wander down its alleys to the Old Bishop's Palace, Hôtel-Dieu and to the citadel. Also within about 20 minutes' drive are the Chemin des Dames, the 30 kilometres of 'ladies paths' that became the site for the three Aisne battles in World War I. Several French, British and German war memorials and cemeteries now lie along its route; guided tours are available from the visitor centre at the paths' Dragon's Lair network of caves. Another famed attraction in the area is the Château de Coucy (10 kilometres), the huge feudal fortress overlooking the valley of the River Ailette that's been standing since the thirteenth century and been a designated monument historique since the nineteenth.
