General

  • On the edge of a 45-hectare forest and near a disused railway line
  • A short drive from France’s oldest citadel in Doullens
  • Heated indoor pool with toboggan slides and Jacuzzi; miniature golf

A fine family park with a fine amount to do on and around site: come along to Camping La Kilienne.

On the edge of a 45-hectare forest, La Kilienne is set up well for family stays and handily placed for woodland walks and cycles; there’s a splendid trail along a nearby disused railway line, and several historic monuments and some castle ruins around the local commune of Warlincourt-lès-Pas are a short stroll away.

A heated indoor pool and paddling pool are among the modern facilities, with sun loungers on the sun terrace alongside the big pool, a Jacuzzi and – for tiddlers – two waterslides to slither down… Yet more antics for the littlies are at the brightly kitted outdoor play area with slides and stuff to clamber on, as well as at the miniature golf course.

The site bar is open in July and August from Tuesday mornings to Sunday afternoons, and on weekends at other times. Barbecues are allowed, so pick up supplies from the nearest supermarkets at Doullens, 15 minutes’ drive away, set yourself up for the evening and sit back to watch the sun sink over the pretty neighbouring woodland.

Occasional entertainment events and theme nights are arranged in throughout the summer and a kids' club is available In July and August. For avid angling sorts, trout fishing excursions are also arranged during peak season (extra charges apply).

Good site away from the hustle and bustle08/29/2019

This site was exactly what we needed after a busy week exploring Holland. We used it as a place to relax and unwind for a few days before heading to Disney. The site was exactly as described - yes it is rated with 1 star - so we had an idea of what to expect. Our pitch was clean and big enough for our camper and awning. The receptionist was very helpful to us (it took a few minutes to find reception so signage probably does need updated) but the girl was lovely, stayed late to welcome us and was very helpful - and we were very grateful for this after driving from Amsterdam. We spent an evening shopping in Arras only 15/20 minutes drive from the site and a lovely town with brilliant shops. Toilets/shower blocks were fine - old and dated - but fine for a couple of days. We found the pool was brilliant as the receptionist had explained to us opening times etc so we knew when to go. All our kids loved the pool. We had no more noise on site than any other site we have been to. We would definitely go back as it is in a very quiet and unspoilt area away from the hustle and bustle of other places we were visiting. Expect a 1 star site and that's what you will get.

    Nothing at all

    Disliked:

turned up on Sunday expecting a lovely stay to spend 10 mins looking for the reception the signs just send you round in circles, (we should of know what we were in for as the entry sign was all smashed up with a huge hole in it on the entry to the site) eventually found it next to about 20-30 huge biffa bins swarming with flies and wasps and some sort of dead animal after asking someone, where we were told to just pick our pitch and giving 5 swimming bands to get us in (a tiny one that wouldn’t fit a 4 man tent and a car or a slightly bigger one that we just a say squeezed into (after we cleaned up the last persons rubbish) next to a group of noisy guest who played loud rubbish music all day and night

the site says that there was a road to cross to get to the main area but did not state it was a main road on a bend!! (Don’t be fooled by the lovely picture of the road and the stream/river with people fishing in it) as that’s not it!! and the stream/river is a dried up puddle with lots of rubbish in it!!

The site was dirty had lots of rubbish and junk lying around and not well kept but we thought let’s make the most of a bad situation and take the kids swimming to find everything was closed with signs saying they will be open tomorrow, so we headed off to find a restaurant or somewhere to eat and found a Mac Donald’s 15 minutes away

early on the morning we were greeted to a coach load of possible 20-30 people in the field next door not sure what was going on but it sounded like some sort of zombie run/purge screaming and carrying on untill the early hours with loud sirens going off every 20-30 mins

Anyway we tried swimming again to again be greeted by a hand written sign to say it was only open 10-12:30 then 2-4:30 at this time it was 12:05 and it was closed already so went and had a play in the park with the kids but only stayed 10 minutes as again it was dirty and full of rubbish

went back swimming at the times shown on the sign and it was still closed to be told by a local resident on the site it was closed all day on a Monday (not on the time table or told to us by reception) kids were very unhappy as were we as it was a trek to get there over the main road past the many stinking biffa bins and still the dead animal!!

Shower blocks were dirty, cold and dark the shower was hanging off the wall in one cubical (there was only 2) sign in the toilet said (they do not take garbage from the site and to take it to the entrance) you know with the stinky biffa bins and dead animal near reception!

the pot wash area pipes were all cracked and broken so just leaked all over your feet when you washed up, again dirty and had to clean them before washing the pots

the pictures on this site must have been taken by a professional photographer who photo shopped them as the site was nothing like the pictures!

Never seen anyone staff wise other than the receptionist (when it was open) the whole stay, no one checking the areas, no cleaners no bin men (because there was no bins at all on site) expect you guessed it near the reception with flys and wasps with the dead animal

Absolutely ruined the end of what was our lovely holiday traveling around France

Friendly staff, we arrived late and they served us a meal after closingtime.

    Disliked:

The reservation was not in their system. The pitches were quite small, the campsite is at 300 m and you have to cross a road. No light in the evening. Drunk and noisy people, screaming en smoking on the road to the reception. We skipped the pool, because the weather was bad. We don’t know what it was like. We think the pictures on Pitchup are made years ago. Maybe it was once a Nice place, but not anymore.

From the manager...

We cannot understand your comment as all what you said is on the web and in pitch internet site. Yes the pitch are small as it is marked (max 10X7m)... Yes the campsite with all the actives is at 300m as it is marked.
You said "Friendly staff, we arrived late and they served us a meal after closingtime.", but you put one star for customer services....
You didn't go to any activities but you put a bad comment too....
We don't know our to served you better if when you said we have done well you are not able to put any good comment....

    Disliked:

Not suitable for any English, no help and when asked for any just brushed off. pitch spaces very small and tight to get your caravan in, and the pool staff were very rude would not allow us to use the pool as we were in shorts and when we got new swimming trunks we were told we could not sit in the pool to keep a eye on our children cause we had clothes on. we left a day earlier as very disappointed

From the manager...

Not suitable for any people who do not respect rules....
There is a panel at the entrance of the swimming pool which explain you all the rules at the swimming pool. You do not need to know another language, as indicated by drawings ... unless you do not understand the drawings.
These are French rules, normally mandatory in all campsites in France. If this is not the case in other campsites, do you ask what is best for customers and why do these rules exist? If you do not want to follow the rules of other countries, stay in England? It is not we who invent these rules but the French state

Local attractions

Plenty of hiking and cycling options are in the area, including through the neighbouring woodland and along the old railway line that runs nearby. If you’re a golfer, a course is a short drive from base.

Several historic spots are within easy reach too: France’s oldest citadel is in Doullens, and the parkland that surrounds Château de Couin is splendid for a mooch. The 17th-century windmill in Achicourt is also within easy driving distance, and the Mining History Centre over at Lewarde is where you can take guided tours to learn about the region’s mining heritage.

Seaside day trips are within easy reach by motor too: there’s a huge sandy beach at Berck, and lots of wildlife spotting options are at the coastal Somme National Nature Reserve, where migratory birds like wigeon, shelducks, curlews and oystercatchers settle alongside harbour seals and salt-meadow sheep.
