- Peaceful naturist site on a 26-hectare property of woods and meadows
- In the foothills of the Pyrenees, 15 minutes' drive from Foix
- Electric bike hire, sociable lounge and high-season woodfired sauna
The thousand flowers referred to in the name may well be a bit of an understatement for Camping Naturiste Millefleurs – this Midi-Pyrénées naturist site is on a 26-hectare property packed with woods, meadows and pretty gardens.
All of that adds up to a splendid swathe of space in which to discard clothes and soak up fresh air as nature intended. Stretch out on your pitch (sunny or shaded depending on how much sun you want on your skin) or find a comfy place to relax around the site for views out over the foothills of the Pyrenees. There’s a little library in reception if you fancy a bookish day, and games of table tennis, badminton and pétanque to play if you’re after some activity.
Eats on site can be cooked up over a barbecue or in the communal kitchen; tables have been set up out on the terrace and under cover for sociable chats while you drink and dine. The nearest village, Gudas, is pretty petite, so it’s a fine idea to make a foray into Foix 15 minutes’ drive away for your supplies.
Foix is worth a wander too, as are Mirepoix, Carcassonne and several local villages (site owners Pascaline and Gaëtan are happy to point you towards ones with markets for food and wine sampling…). Hikes and bike rides are popular picks here as well – hire electric bikes on site to help on the uphill bits, and follow strenuous outings with a soak in the sauna back at base (high season only).

Local attractions
Fancy some foodie treats? Time your visit to Foix (15 minutes’ drive) for market day (Tuesday, Wednesday, or ideally Friday) to take in some fine local fare. Whatever days you’re there it’s also worth wandering through the pretty streets, poking about in the patisseries and climbing to the ancient château – it’s been there since at least the seventh century.
If that’s given the kids a taste for life gone by, take them to Les Forges de Pyrene living museum (20 minutes) or cart everyone over to Carcassonne (an hour and 20 minutes) to meander around the medieval walled town.
Too hot for such outings? Stick around in Foix for rafting, paddleboarding and other watersports on the Ariège river, or head into the cooler hills of the Ariégeoises Pyrénées Regional Natural Park (20 minutes) for walks and bike rides. In the heat of the day, escape from the sun at Labouiche underground lake (25 minutes) or Bédeilhac cave (half an hour).
