- Peaceful chalet site 20 minutes' walk from Juillac village centre
- A 35-minute drive from medieval Brive-la-Gaillarde
- Open-air swimming pool and play area on site
Such peaceful surrounds as those at Les Chalets de Lavialle might possibly convince you that you’re deep in the Limousin countryside… In fact, this spot is in a most handy location, less than a minute from the D901 and a kilometre and a half from the village of Juillac.
This is a splendid win-win for guests, of course, as it means rural serenity when you wish for it, but also easy escapes for days out or to stroll to the village in around 20 minutes when you need supermarket supplies, fresh bits from the bakery or a little snifter in the local bar.
Those days out are likely to have something of a rural vibe to them: this is an area that’s packed with medieval villages to wander around, markets to acquire foodie treats and wineries to source something to sip around sunset (or you might choose a waterpark, an adventure park or a day of canoeing if you seek something more active…)
And any time spent on site will have that slow-paced countryside thing going, too, especially if you wangle a lengthy period of sunbathing by the pool, with gorgeous greenery to gaze at while you do so, and a play area to keep any restless tiddlers entertained. If your hols don’t feel right without your four-legged pal by your side, you’ll be pleased to note that dogs are welcome to come along for a stay here.

Local attractions
The biggest town around these parts, Brive-la-Gaillarde (35 minutes’ drive), is worth a day of your time, especially if you manage to time your trip to coincide with one of the three weekly market days. The medieval centre is the sort that’s full of turrets and other bits and bobs to look out for, and there are also a couple of museums and a distillery to visit, plus canal/river walks to be had.
A couple more excellent places to wander are Les Jardins de Colette (25 minutes), with themed areas, games and a giant maze, and Les Jardins de l’Imaginaire (40 minutes), a contemporary garden with water features, sculptures and water lilies galore. The Gouffre de la Fage (40 minutes) is a good place to aim for if you’d like to take your strolls below the surface.
Should les enfants be demanding a more active outing, take them along to Aquafun Park du Causse to fling themselves across a floating inflatable obstacle course, or have them scale the trees to the high ropes courses at Nature Evasion adventure park. Both are around 40 minutes away by car.
