Settle in for some seaside time at Camping Le Soleil d’Oc, a mere 600 metres from the sea and the long sandy beach at Narbonne-Plage on the Occitanie coast. This is a splendid spot for a family holiday, with the beach so close that you can wander down there whenever you fancy it. It’s also easy to walk to activities like a waterpark or watersports centre, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafés a few minutes’ drive away in either Narbonne-Plage or Gruissan. Beyond both of those are plenty of attractions for all ages, from hiking trails and wineries for the grownups to animal parks and treetop trails for the kids. So that’s plenty of things to fill your days with – but in fact there may well be days when you don’t even leave the site. A real highlight here is the pool area, spreading over 2000 square metres and designed in a lagoon style with white sand areas, calm turquoise water, palm trees and thatch umbrellas to relax under. It’s the kind of place where you could easily while away many an hour until it’s time for an evening cocktail on the terrace. Kids need a bit of extra entertainment? That’s all sorted too – this site has a large games area with a zipline, bouncy castle, ping pong tables and all sorts of other fun elements, and the staff run kids’ activities five mornings and four afternoons a week in summer. Bring everyone back together in the evening for a meal – either cooking your own using ingredients from the site shop or taking a table at the snack bar/restaurant. The shop also has fresh pastries and bread each morning for a tasty breakfast.

Sanitaires ok
la piscine pourrait être paradisiaque si elle était mieux entretenue

Disliked Manque de propreté de la piscine (sable verdâtre, eaux troubles, guêpes)
Manque de sympathie de la majorité du personnel, direction inclue.
Le vigile applique le règlement en fonction de son humeur, short de bain pour certains autorisés mais pas pour d'autres.
Manque de douches et de toilettes compte tenu du nombre d emplacement

Liked Secure and clean park with a good play area for the kids.
Separate toilet and shower block for the kids was brilliant.

Disliked The pitch was of a good size but very dusty with little to no grass remaining - which was to be expected.

The lagoon was full of wasps on one side - flying around as well as on the sand - with no evidence of anything being done about it.

Gates remain open until very late, with cars coming and going until midnight, which disturbed the kids sleep a lot.

Overall good but not worth the price per night.

Local attractions

If you fancy a change of swimming scenery, leave the lagoon behind and take the 10-minute walk to the beach or to the slides of Aquajet waterpark. There are various watersports along the beach too, or you could elect to stay dry by climbing up into the trees at Acromix adventure park (10 minutes’ drive). Switch up the days out with some time in the countryside, perhaps visiting the wineries of the La Clape region (20 minutes) and touring Terra Vinea (half an hour), an underground cellar with tours and tastings. You can also get underground for boat tours and ziplining at Gouffre Géant de Cabrespine (an hour), or stick to the surface to see the animals at Réserve Africaine de Sigean (half an hour). For a spot of history, visit the Roman Granary Museum and Narbo Via museum in Narbonne (20 minutes), tour the walled city of Carcassonne (50 minutes) or check out the cultural programme at Abbaye de Fontfroide (35 minutes).
