- 2.5km from the beach and one kilometre from Pénestin
- Close to Morbihan bay, Vannes and the Brière Regional Natural Park
- Heated pools, Jacuzzi, waterslides, bar, playground and farm area
Ever been to Pénestin, Morbihan? If not, stick it on your travel to-do list as soon as poss, for this Brittany peninsula town between the Gulf of Morbihan and La Baule is in a land of golden beaches, spectacular coastline lined with cliffs, quiet coves and endless opps for hiking and watery sports. The fishing port of Tréhiguier has harvested many mussels here throughout the years: authentic Breton moules-frites should also be on your 'as soon as poss' travel to-do list…
To access all this, stay at Camping Les Pins, a kilometre from Pénestin and about two and a half from the nearest stretch of golden peninsula sands. It's a big and family-friendly site, with facilities and activities for all ages including a covered heated pool with whirlpool and Jacuzzi; a heated outdoor pool with waterslides, available from early July until the end of August, a play area and farm animals such as donkeys and llamas to meet and greet. There's also a bar and takeaway serving hot and cold drinks, bread, pancakes and pizza.
The friendly team members organise a good range of activities for adults and kids, and will happily share their knowledge of events, attractions and things to do around Pénestin and the surrounding area.
Among the site amenities are toilets and showers, a bath, a drying room and a launderette.

Local attractions
To Pénestin first, the handsome peninsula town with a long length of coast and spectacular golden cliffs. The Mine d’Or beach is lifeguarded and popular with families, and is also a good paragliding place as well as the spot to see Pénestin cliffs turn gold as the sun sets: you'll very much need to bring your camera.
This is famed mussel farming land too because of the clean water of the Vilaine river estuary; if you want to learn more about the business as well as sampling its wares, take a trip to the exhibits of the Maison de la Mytiliculture in the old lighthouse at the nearby fishing port of Tréhiguier. (French speakers can take an organised tour around the region's mussel beds courtesy of the local Association Mer et Nature.)
Elsewhere within easy reach, have days out around Morbihan bay, Vannes, the medieval walled town of Guérande, and the watery expanse of the Brière Regional Natural Park. You could also have a hike along the GR 34 coastal path, following the shoreline for 15 kilometres, or go windsurfing at the popular spot of Pont Mahé bay.
