Looking at the Landes area for your next break? It’s an excellent choice, with great swathes of forest, gorgeous beaches, heaps of outdoor activities and loads of fabulous food and drinks to sample while you’re here.
About five minutes’ drive from the town of Léon, Les Pins Village Vacances makes a fine base for a holiday in this area – the cabins here are set among around 170 acres of pine forest, with both the coast and a lake beach about 10 minutes’ drive away. That setting means proximity to plenty of activities too, and the site team have made it even easier to try them all out by partnering with a range of local providers to offer discounts for guests.
As well as days of canoeing, surf lessons, cycling and other adventures, you may like to put on your to-do list days out in Biarritz, Bayonne and San Sebastián – or tours of the nearby villages to experience their annual celebrations (known as ‘ferias’) and try all the Gascon cuisine (duck, Armagnac, Tourtière Gascon and other treats…).
And of course, you’ll probably want to factor in some time on site too, as it has a great range of facilities including a large aquatic area with indoor and outdoor pools, waterslides, a paddling pool and a pair of Jacuzzis. Beyond that are tennis courts, miniature golf, a playground, a golf driving range and a multisports court – not to mention daytime and evening activities for all ages.
Whatever you choose to do, all holidays here have one thing in common: accommodation in cosy self-contained cabins with a kitchen, a bathroom and a private covered terrace to relax on. There's also a restaurant and snack bar for those whose schedule doesn't allow for cooking.

Bargain hunters, gather round: there are lots of discounts available for site guests on things like bike and electric scooter rental, surf lessons, canoe or rafting outings, skateboarding courses and massages (ask on site for full details).
Of course you may also like to explore under your own steam, perhaps heading to Plage de Moliets or Plage du Lac de Léon (both 10 minutes’ drive) or taking a walk in the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park (45 minutes). Another must-see nearby is the Courant d’Huchet (10 minutes), an ecological paradise known as the ‘Landes Amazon’ and well worth touring on a small boat tour.
A little further afield, stroll around stylish Biarritz (55 minutes), scramble up the Dune du Pilat (an hour and 20 minutes) or head to San Sebastián (an hour and 25 minutes) for a day of grazing on all the pintxos.
