There’s bags of family fun to be had from Banki Green Istrian Village. First stop might be Kringa Adrenalin Park (10 minutes’ drive) for scurrying around on rope courses, riding ponies or trying out the treetop zipwires; braver souls may prefer the high-octane Zip Line Pazin Cave (15 minutes), with high-speed rides over a deep forested gorge. You can also explore underground with guided tours of the caves at Pazinska Jama (20 minutes), or practise your free climbing skills in the soaring limestone canyon at Vela Draga (35 minutes). Kids too young for all that activity? Simply discover the raw beauty of the Istrian peninsula on hiking routes through the forested hills. Go home with some knowledge of local culture after your visit to the weaving, fishing and farming displays at the colourful Ethnographic Museum of Istria (15 minutes). Take the time to see the sublime frescoes on the walls of the tiny Kuća Fresaka, and learn about rural Istrian living at the bijou Zavičajna Zbirka Enriko Depiera museum (10 minutes).
