- Peaceful bush setting along the front of the Kiewa river
- Under 10 minutes’ drive to the Alpine National Park; an hour to Albury
- Barbecue shelters, camp kitchens, a kiosk and riverfront areas
Out in search of high plains, valleys, mountains, vineyards and historic townships? There’s no need to keep scouting around for a base among the stunning Victoria landscapes, as Tawonga Tourist Park has a stunning and peaceful bush setting with gorgeous trees along the front of the Kiewa river.
Visions of the riverside and the trees will already sound excellent to outdoorsy folks, but just wait until you hear about the details of the location. Tawonga Tourist Park is in a valley, just 10 minutes’ drive from the edge of the Alpine National Park.
It’s a 35-minute drive away from the tallest mountain in the national park, Mount Bogong. The Bogong High Plains, scattered with historic cattlemen huts, are just further on. Within a short drive, get stuck into sightseeing, fishing, golfing, skiing, hiking, swimming and winery tours…
Or, simply relax by the riverfront back at the base. There are plenty of facilities that guests can make use of, including amenities blocks, a kiosk, barbecue shelters, camp kitchens and a drying room.
Very handily, there are shops and restaurants in Mount Beauty, five minutes’ drive away. This small town is a favourite among many mountain bikers, as it’s home to the Big Hill Mountain Bike Park trails. Treks can be tracked down here too, such as the Mount Beauty Gorge Walk.
