  • Dog-friendly, family-friendly and motorbike-friendly rural site
  • In peaceful green setting by a stream, 20 minutes' drive from Lampeter
  • Barbecues and campfires allowed; shops five minutes' drive away
The owners at Seaholly Leisure have a mission in mind: welcoming all members of the family for short or long breaks to suit every taste and budget, whether you’re arriving with the kids in tow, as part of a couple, or on your motorbike. The warm welcome extends to the family pet too, as Seaholly is fully dog friendly and is well placed for walks in its green setting and around the surrounding Carmarthenshire countryside. Take the crew out for strolls along and splashes in the site stream, go wildlife watching around the grounds or venture off site around highlights like the Dolaucothi Gold Mines or the West Wales Museum of Childhood, each within half an hour’s drive. Seaholly is a small, peaceful and family-run place, between the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park to the west and the Brecon Beacons to the east, and five minutes from its nearest town of Rhydcymerau. Lampeter is 20 minutes’ drive north for barbecue and campfire supplies; both are allowed on site. The site is eco friendly and uses renewable and clean energy, so all accommodation is powered by natural sources such as solar power. Showers, toilets, a washing-up area and recycling are all available.

Local attractions

There’s loads to see and do within easy day trip distance around this part of Wales, whether you want to delve into local and national history at mines and castles, potter around colourful gardens, hike around the stunning Pembrokeshire coast or take your togs and towel for a day at the beach. The biggest attraction close to the site is Dolaucothi Gold Mines, part of the Dolaucothi Estate managed by the National Trust. This Scheduled Ancient Monument has been mined since BC times and is the only known Roman gold mine in Britain: take a tour underground to see the mines and their Roman archaeology, as well as how the Victorians did it all some centuries later. South of the site, have more history at Gwili Steam Railway (35 minutes), or head west for the same distance to the National Wool Museum and the West Wales Museum of Childhood at Llandysul. A 40-minute drive away, Carreg Cannen Castle just inside the Brecon Beacons National Park is in splendid setting above a limestone precipice outside Ffairfach, Other options include the Welsh Quilt Centre (20 minutes), the National Botanic Garden of Wales (45 minutes), and Aberporth, New Quay and the beaches of Cardigan Bay, 45 to 50 minutes away. A horse trekking centre is 20 minutes’ drive away.
