Cenarth Falls Resort: Spacious pitches with car parking

General

  • Award-winning site in the small Carmarthenshire village of Cenarth
  • A 15-minute drive from the coast; 45 minutes from Oakwood theme park
  • Smart country club on site with bar, indoor pool and gym

Waterfall walks, cheese appreciation, leaping salmon, bobbing about in a coracle… there are several reasons why folk would settle in the little Carmarthenshire village of Cenarth. And you can add to that mix the fine collection of facilities at Cenarth Falls Resort, an award-winning site 10 minutes’ walk from the village’s pubs, cafés and small supermarket.

Many certificates of excellence have been bestowed upon this park over the years – even the toilet block has been the recipient of its own gong. Bring the kids along, though, and they won’t bat an eyelid at such things – they’ll most likely be rather too distracted by spending time at the play area or challenging pals in the games room.

The country club’s one of the real highlights of this park – it’s a place where you can settle with a drink in the comfy bar (with added musical entertainment on high-season weekends) or pay a little extra for access to the adjacent health club, which houses an indoor pool, sauna and a gym.

If all that has worked up an appetite, at some point it’s worth heading over to the nearest town, Newcastle Emlyn, five minutes’ drive away, for self-catering supplies and/or a range of pubs, restaurants and takeaways.

Wi-fi bust for three weeks yet it was still advertised as available.09/21/2022

near(ish) to the coast. Cenarth falls nice.

    Disliked:

Booked because they had advertised wi-fi at the pitch. Turned up to find no wi-fi or even phone reception at the pitch (not for vodaphone or o2 anyway. Apparently EE is the only network that reaches the site). Had specifically asked in my booking notes for a pitch with good wi-fi because it was needed for work, but they didnt bother to even reply to advise on the fact that their wi-fi had been bust for three weeks. Very poor customer service on that one! Not a happy experience. Won't be back.

Wonderful campsite with excellent facilities in a lovely quiet and picturesque setting. Staff were very helpful and the campsite was lovely and clean.

    Disliked:

Only fault and this was through no fault of the site was that the outdoor pool was closed along with the restaurant due to staff shortages.

    The area

    Disliked:

Scammed pool & kitchen closed for the season. Most of the facilities where closed/ out of order or rundown & filthy. When we approach staff with our complaints regarding the lack of facilities that were advertised they were rude and dismissive. We requested a discount to compensate the lack of facilities open but were told that was not possible.
We requested to speak with management and said we would only pay the balance of our stay when we spoke with them. This was denied and the staff switched off our electricity whilst we were out for the day. The staff tried to say that it must of tripped but admitted to doing so after we told them a family on the next pitch watched them at our hook up terminal.

The site is very dated. Shower/toilets were inadequate for the size of site also stank and were filthy.

Never ever would I recommend this site.

Directions

Local attractions

You’ll want to start with a stroll around Cenarth, of course – those waterfalls are a 10-minute walk away, and the Teifi river is an excellent place for an amble, particularly when the salmon are jumping in late summer. It’s worth stopping in at the village’s National Coracle Centre to learn a bit about the traditional round boats, and taking the 10-minute drive to Caws Cenarth to sample the tasty local cheese.

Cenarth’s also a handy location for outings to the coast – try Cardigan (15 minutes’ drive) for dolphin-spotting trips, or Aberporth (20 minutes) for beach days – or walks in the Preseli Hills, around 15 minutes away by car. Cilgerran Castle (15 minutes), the National Trust estate at Llanerchaeron (35 minutes) and the tiny city of St Davids (an hour) also make excellent days out.

And if you’ve got the kids along, it’s quite possible (and reasonable) that they’ll be keen to add to the schedule days at Oakwood theme park and meeting the only giraffes in Wales at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (both around 45 minutes’ drive).

Must see

  • National Wool Museum (9.5 kilometres)
  • Llanerchaeron - National Trust (27.9 kilometres)
  • National Botanic Garden of Wales (35.1 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Dolaucothi Gold Mines (39.6 kilometres)
  • Aberdeunant (41.0 kilometres)
