Liked Absolutely amazing location - in the middle of nowhere exactly how I wanted it. Stop what super friendly especially Gill and Derek. Already planning my next visit here.

Liked Very striking remote location with stunning scenery. I camped on the grounds as opposed to staying in the hostel itself, but having a toilet and kitchen on-hand was good to know.
The host was very friendly and welcoming and a cup of tea on arrival was much appreciated!

Disliked Not dislikes but couple of things to mention;
- for motorcyclists, the roads near the hostel could be a challenge if you had eg a sportsbike; a combination of loose gravel, steep inclines and switchbacks on a single lane. All very doable, but just flagging in case you arrive by bike.
- there are a lot of midges in the evening/early morning, which again isn't a dislike, it just is what it is, but definitely come with bug spray

Liked how remote it was and everyone was really friendly and welcoming. the area the campsite is in, is absolutely stunning!!

Liked Warden was really nice and helpful. Was on time at the property and explained, even shared bit of history of this lonely but beautiful house in middle of the valley. Kitchen had lot of things which we were free to use, overall great experience.

Liked Dolgoch is an amazing place to let everything go, reconnect with nature and understand what we really need. Went there with my 14yr old son for a short getaway. We loved the place, the other guests and especially the lovely warden Mary and her 2 friends. We had the most wonderful conversations in the evening. They really looked after us and the other guests. What made it even more special is that all wardens are volunteers. We didn’t miss electricity or WiFi. The kitchen is well stocked with hobs, oven, drinking water, pots, pans, utensils, crockery and cutlery. The shower can get really hot after a warm, sunny day. The location is really peaceful and quiet during the night and the day. Everyone is relaxed and you start feeling like part of a new family after a couple of days.

Disliked There is nothing to dislike if you don’t have unrealistic expectations. It is what it says on the tin, basic, no Wi-Fi, no mobile phone reception. But everything you need for your stay. Something to be aware of: if there are many people staying, the shower may be cold - but this adds to the fun ;-). The beds are comfortable- we stayed in the 4-bed private room - as long as you are less than 6 foot. And beware of the southern bridle path if you are hiking. It is very boggy for 1.5 miles and treacherous- rather use the road on the other side of the valley.

Liked Jim the warden welcomed us into the cosy main room with a roaring fire after we'd been out in the rain for hours! The bunkhouse is in a beautiful, very remote, location. The accommodation is wonderfully basic - no mains electricity, signal or wifi! But the rooms were clean and comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed.

Liked The Hostel is totally off grid. No Electricity, phone signal or internet. Lots of indoor relaxing space with a very effective wood fire. (We stayed when the temperatures were just above freezing). There is a rack to dry wet clothes above the wood burner. Bedrooms have no lights so bring a good torch. Outside has lots of seating and in summer would be a great space to sit out in. Bedrooms were clean, laundry was freshly laundered. I'm 190 cm and found my bunk was a little short, but bearable, and the duvet was large and warm.
