What customers say

Stunning rural & sea views, peaceful vibe, and top-notch facilities (new loos/showers!). Spacious pitches. Some found it exposed, others liked hedge windbreaks. Great for nature lovers. A few noted strict rules and curt welcomes, with limited shop hours.

Electric grass touring caravan pitch

Liked Rural setting. Good facilities. Easy access when no staff available. Difficult to review as we never saw anyone and there were only around 6 units on site. All well kept and I imagine will be good in the Summer when you can use the swimming pool and club house.

Disliked Won't be able to come in the Summer as our caravan is the wrong make.

Electric grass campervan pitch

Liked End of season - on our last night we were the only travelling customer, had the entire huge site to ourselves.

Great views. Short Taxi ride into Weymouth, plenty of bars, music etc.

Disliked In high season when the place is full - it must be unbearable.

Massive amount of rules - eg if you arrive late there’s a £70 fine, clearly based on experience.

Expensive for what it is.

Little to do - club house and shop closed - not going to open for 1 van. What staff?

Very exposed - if the weather is bad as it was for us, storm force winds and torrential showers, it’s an awful place to be.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: You have not visited us in high season so that is a tad unfair to comment on. You were not the only people non site, others had chosen sheltered pitches without the view. We do not have a clubhouse on the park. Our shop is open morning and afternoon, but staff are available on the phone/24/7. You drove the 20 yds to the toilet, so I don't think camping is your best choice of holiday. You did chat with our clean team. We advertise ourselves as a family camping park for people who love the outdoors, walking and birdwatching. We are not a big holiday park with all facilities that comes with that type of holiday. The £70 charge sign was misread, this is for anyone who turns up with out a booking as a deterrent, As we are advance bookings only. You cannot have the exceptional views that we have without being exposed to the elements. But all weather has its own beauty, it changes the colours on sea and land, creating waves that are mesmerising to watch.

Amazing sea views , spotless facilities Pitches were perfect.

Electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Pitches were well marked out. Campsite was clean. The new toilet and shower block was clean, showers were hot. WiFi signal was good on pitch 141. Great location and views.

Disliked Old toilet block needs updating. Staff weren’t very welcoming or warm. There are over 300 pitches on the site, there was no more than 10 bookings during our stay and we were pitched right next to someone else.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Our pitches are numbered up to 366 but numbered in blocks, only actually 135 marked pitches. Our park is laid out with hedges, and there are usually many more on site than are visible without looking in all the nooks and crannies. The old block is clean and functional. It was due for a facelift in 2020 but we are still recovering.... One day soon hopefully.

A lovely site but rather rules-bound.

Electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Wonderful scenery, walks and wildlife

Good facilities

Disliked Although the staff we met were helpful the overall ambience of the place is rather too rules bound - when you arrive you're given two pages of what you can't do and not a word of welcome and what you CAN do. I know places have to have rules but still....

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thank you, we glad you enjoyed your stay. Our leaflet is one page of useful information about the park, one map, one detailing the farm walk, and one of do's and dont's to keep everyone safe. Fairly standard practice.

Electric grass campervan pitch

Liked Space around us

Disliked Almost empty site but put in a windy place without any shelter at all so awning blew down. Showers and toilets very basic. Over zealous rules and no amenities despite them being advertised. If the shop is only open an hour or so per day it should say when booking.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Our park is split into many areas with sheltered pitches and pitches with a view. Not all are visible without checking out the nooks and crannies. Our phones are manned 24/7 and requests to move pitches can usually be accommodated. You just need to ask. Your friends visited our reception and could have asked for you. What amenities were advertised that you didn't find? Yes our shop is only open an hour in the morning and evening when quiet, and all day when the park is busy. (pitchup keeps changing our description to make it sound like a supermarket that is open all day, its not, but We do stock most the essentials.). All the amenities listed are available, laundry is locked at night. Our park rules are industry standard. Nothing more than being respectful to others.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (water view)

Liked Great facilities, kids play area, laundry, and spacious well-planned pitches.
Very clean shower and bathroom block, with plenty of stalls.
A very quiet, spacious, and comfortable site.
Our pitch was very well sheltered from the wind during our stay.
The view from the water-view pitches was delightful.

Disliked Our water-view pitch was on a slope, which we found did cause our sleeping bags to slip during the night.

Local attractions

Birdwatchers should keep binoculars to hand when wandering about the site, or you can head for Fleet Lagoon (10 minutes’ walk) to watch the antics of Brent geese, coots and terns. Set around a tumbledown medieval monastery, Abbotsbury Swannery (15 minutes’ drive) is famed for its mute swans, with their cygnets hatching during late May and June. There are furry – rather than feathered – friends to be found at Kingston Maurward Animal Park and Gardens (25 minutes) in the shape of donkeys, alpacas and cheeky goats. If the kids haven’t seen enough wildlife by then, no doubt you’ll be heading for Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre (40 minutes) to meet the primates or join keeper talks about chimps and gibbons. Try to squeeze a little culture into your offspring with a tour of Victorian-era Nothe Fort (20 minutes), where you can also take a boat trip around the harbour. If that fails to spark young minds, perhaps the sandy beach and observation wheel at Weymouth (15 minutes) will be more of a hit.
