Seeking some proper peace and quiet for your Dorset break? Tuck yourselves away among 14 acres of ancient parkland at The Inside Park, a couple of miles outside Blandford Forum. The team here have been welcoming guests for more than 30 years, with many people becoming repeat visitors over that time. And what is it that keeps them coming back for more? Well, despite being so close to town (very handy when you want to pop out to the shops or find somewhere to eat out), this place has quite a magical secluded atmosphere. The pitches are about half a mile from the nearest road, and surrounded by a swathe of fine specimen trees that are home to lots of wildlife (deer, hawks and badgers are among the animals you might spot as you wander here). Getting out to explore your surroundings is easy here, as there are about six miles of private waymarked trails running through the farm’s land – excellent for walking the dogs or taking the kids out to spot some of the aforementioned wildlife. There are also woodland areas for the kids to play in, along with an outdoor play area and an indoor games room with table tennis, pool and other games. The owners of this site have clearly learned a thing or two about guests’ needs over the years they’ve been running the place, so now there’s a good list of facilities, mostly located within a characterful 18th-century stable and coach house – a launderette, food shop and modern accessible bathrooms among them. Spacious pitches on free-draining land round everything off nicely for a comfortable, chilled-out countryside break.

Liked We have just returned from a very last minute 1 night stay in our campervan - what a beautiful site.

We stayed on a grass non electric pitch. On arrival reception was closed but this didn’t really matter as our pitch was displayed on the board outside along with a map to easily find the pitch.

The facilities are clean and there is plenty of sinks for washing up.

There is also a Tesco 5 minutes down the road and plenty of walking trails.

It was nice to have the late evening sun too, and the skies were clear so we could see lots of stars.

We hope to return again someday.

Disliked The shower pressure is a bit iffy but perhaps it was due to many being in use at the same time.

Liked Absolutely everything! From start to finish our stay was wonderful, we received a very friendly welcome when we arrived. The site itself is very well maintained and there is gorgeous countryside around it. The showers and toilets were plentiful and very clean. We didn't have children with us but if we had then the play park would have been a massive hit, it is excellent and looks like it suits every age. We will definitely be back :)

Liked What a delightful site. From our arrival with a cheery welcome before being shown to our pitch by the man cycling in front of us to show us where to go. Then to the beautiful setting in mature trees. I wish we could have made use of the walks which I would have done but for having such young kids.

I am not an experienced camper but I have nothing to complain about!

If you're popping into Blandford Forum (five minutes’ drive) for a bit of shopping, stick around to visit the Blandford Fashion Museum or take a tour of the Hall & Woodhouse Brewery. There’s also a leisure centre here with a pool, and you can head a little way out of town to the Royal Signals Museum (10 minutes). From this handy spot within the Dorset National Landscape, there are plenty of lovely walks and bike rides – plus more adventurous bike activities at Okeford Hill Bike Park (10 minutes). The spectacular Kingston Lacy estate (15 minutes), English Oak Vineyard (20 minutes) and Sculpture By The Lakes (25 minutes) give different ways to enjoy the scenery. And of course Dorset’s fabulous coastline isn’t far off either – drive for half an hour or so and you’ll be at Bournemouth’s splendid sandy beach or at the ancient coves of the Jurassic Coast.
