Ashcroft Farm: peaceful, clean site with big pitches, friendly owners. Showers/toilets spotless. Idyllic, quiet, great for dogs. Narrow access roads, but good value rural escape. Some wait for facilities & shower temp noted. Many want to return.

Electric grass pitch (sloping)

Liked First time camping in Devon and very pleased with Ashcroft farm. We were on pitch 6 which was at the very bottom and furthest from toilet/showers but didn't bother us. Slightly on the slope but again didn't bother us. Very soft grass and kids running bearfoot, lots of space around and in the middle of the field for kids to play and run around. Very quiet except of owls and other animals at night of course 😆 washing machine £3 /dryer £5 available , mini fridge freezer available, very clean all around the farm. Not too far from the beaches and other places to see and lovely milk vending machine only 2 mins away!

Disliked Maybe was just me but every time (was twice) I had a shower water was barely warm but I did go later in the evening..

Electric grass pitch

Liked What an amazing peaceful stay. Beautiful location, lovely owners, very clean facilities and an awesome dog walking area. I ended up going solo as my friend was unfortunately poorly and I felt very safe.

Disliked Nothing.

Non-electric grass pitch (sloping)

Liked Our second visit to this quiet campsite near Woolsey, we chose the site so we could dine at the Farmers Arms and the coast. Pitches are well spaced and ours was levelled with relatively small chocks. Its not far to some good walking on the coast.

Disliked nothing

Electric grass pitch

Liked Quiet laid back campsite, busier at times but to no hinderance of the feel of the site. Toilets cleaned regularly. Very large pitches. Individual cubicles for toilet and toilet with shower for males and females housed in a wooden shed alongside a wash up station and a pay per use washing machine and dryer. Lots of information about the local area on the walls of the utility room. Designated dog walking field. Clear recycling bins. Plenty of hot water. The shop in the village feels like an upmarket shop but reasonably priced with a great selection of products and a post office. Great location for north Devon exploring - also to venture into north Cornwall. And by far my family's favourite place was the 24 hour milkshake vending machine at a nearby dairy farm 👍🏻 Lovely owner of the campsite who is friendly, hands on and informative. You are in nature and will hear horses, cows, owls, pigeons and see the Ashcroft Moths and when we were packing up this morning after a 2 week stay 4 RAF jets 😊 Expect some narrower country roads, this is rural Devon.

Disliked Sometimes other campers don't leave facilities as you would like to find them - But this is no fault of the campsites and they are very visible with cleaning.

Liked Beautiful, peaceful location and quiet campsite. On the first couple of nights we enjoyed stargazing and could see the Milkyway (not the theme park). Facilities all nice and clean. Fantastic dog walking field. Owner lovely and friendly.

Electric grass pitch (sloping)

Liked Loved our short stay at Ashcroft Farm. The site is very well placed for the village which has a lovely pub, chip shop and store. Lot’s to do in the local area, very well positioned for our favourite spots. The owner was very friendly, she checked in with us when we arrived and she was very proactive to check in on guests after a particular blustery night due to windy weather, we appreciated this. The site itself is quiet (which suits us perfectly, facilities very good and clean and the pitch was huge. We’ll definitely return, thank you.

Local attractions

The Milky Way Adventure Park (10 minutes’ drive) has both outdoor and indoor attractions, which makes it a great option for days when you can’t quite work out what the weather has in store. Highlights include a ninja obstacle course, enormous bouncing pillows and a couple of roller coasters. There are also gentle rides for younger children, plus birds of prey displays. Some of the best beaches of the north Devon coast are within a short driving distance of the site. Buck’s Mills (10 minutes) is known for its rockpools and for the waterfall tumbling down a rugged cliff, while Westward Ho! beach (20 minutes), a vast expanse of sand fringed by a ridge of pebbles, is popular with surfers. Keen hikers will not want to miss a day exploring Exmoor National Park (55 minutes), where they can walk through such diverse landscapes as moorlands and woodlands, as well as dramatic coastal paths. Keep an eye out for the local wildlife, from red deer to the resident animal gardeners, the grazing Exmoor ponies.
