Cornwall's only cathedral city is rather easy to reach from Carnon Downs Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite. Truro (10 minutes' drive) has stunning historic architecture, a popular weekly farmers' market (going there hungry is highly recommended) and modern shops to its name. If you're always looking for the nearest water for a dip while on holiday, at this park, you might become quite familiar with Looe beach (10 minutes). This sheltered spot on the Carrick Roads estuary is just the spot for a swim, or when you're feeling even more energetic, some watersports. The maritime town of Falmouth (20 minutes) is another fine option, with its sandy beaches. After your dip, look around the natural harbour or call into the National Maritime Museum Cornwall (25 minutes). Walkers and nature fans are also well-served in these parts. There are scenic footpaths leading directly from the site towards the river Fal and the historic hamlets of Penpol and Devoran; on these routes, you'll see some of the area's industrial heritage as well as the pretty views over the creek. Cyclists can also get their fix on the coast-to-coast Bissoe Trail, which is a short drive from the site. Other iconic Cornish landmarks within striking distance of the park include the Eden Project (45 minutes) or the lush National Trust gardens at Trelissick (five minutes).
