  • Family park just one mile from Widemouth Bay
  • Dog-friendly and five minutes' drive from Bude
  • Laundry room and tourist information on site
Families, kids, beach buffs and even the family dog might whoop about the location and facilities at Widemouth Fields in Cornwall. This firmly family- and dog-friendly park is surrounded by countryside views in Cornwall and is only a mile from the surf at Widemouth Bay. The park has modern facilities including showers and toilets, along with – a nice touch – chemical disposal and a washing-up area, both set indoors. The park also has armfuls of tourist information at reception and a coin-operated launderette. Bude is five minutes' drive away from Widemouth Fields. It has good access to four beaches – Summerleaze, Sandymouth, Crackington Haven and Crooklets; all smashing – and there's a good bit to do in Bude for kids too, including visiting the sea pool or trying activities like kayaking.

Local attractions

Take your pick and off you go: Cornwall has something for all flavours including world-class beaches, spectacular surf, gorgeous golf courses, wildlife-crammed nature reserves, theme parks, gardens, and old old legends to delve into. Pick a seaside town per day to investigate its beaches, coves, restaurants and its section of the South West Coast Path: Bude, Boscastle (Witchcraft Museum), Tintagel (King Arthur and castle) and Clovelly in Devon (famous and cameraworthy) are all easily accessible from Widemouth Fields, or you could drive a little further to Port Isaac and Padstow, both on the way to Newquay. Away from the seaside towns, Crealy Great Adventure Park at Tredinnick between Newquay and Wadebridge is one of Cornwall's best-known family attractions, as is the mighty Eden Project to the south-east just outside St Austell. In Devon, Exmoor Zoo should prove a hit with most families, and RHS Rosemoor Gardens at Great Torrington is blooming with things to see and do.

What customers say

Great for a quiet dog-friendly break with good showers & space. Close to Widemouth Bay & Bude. Management issues noted: poor arrival info, communication problems, inaccurate site descriptions. Some found facilities clean, others not. Site sometimes closed/unstaffed.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked Lovely site. Immaculate. Great toilet/shower block. Indoor washing up area. Laundrette ( didn't use).

Disliked Push button showers, really annoying having to push it every 10 secs, having said that though they were lovely and hot with good water pressure.

Non-electric grass tent pitch (large)

Liked We camped for a week and it was great. Received gate code on the morning of our arrival day. Extremely quiet site as it was only us and one other. Great shower facilities, with a dish washing room and laundry room. We were able to freeze ice packs in the site office. Very well situated for easy access to either Widemouth Bay or Bude both 5 mins drive.

Non-electric hardstanding touring pitch (large)

Liked N/A

Disliked No one on site to meet us and offices and entertainment building locked up and looked like a building site . After 30 minutes of waiting and trying all the numbers we phoned the emergency number where we were given the code to get through the gates . The hardstanding pitch we booked looked nothing like the photos . We were in an overgrown field on our own . We decided to leave as we were very disappointed with the site after a long drive to get there.

Liked It was very quiet ! The toilets were clean .

Disliked No one to let us in so we didn't know the code ( luckily a new employee who hadn't started work there helped us ). It wasn't the site that I had seen online ...no bar , restaurant , shop or even owners ! Nothing for children to do , not even allowed ball games or to cycle . The hairdryer doesn't work .
The most expensive site I have ever stayed on in Cornwall ( as locals we camp alot around the county ) with no amenities .I will go back to the £7 a night site that has exactly the same amenities but has a bar ! Money needs to be spent and a bit of care and attention .At the moment it feels like an army camp with no soul .At £32 for one nights camping ....nope .
