Ethel ready tent

Liked What a great place! The owners are fantastic, friendly and so accommodating. We had Ethel a ready set up tent and it really was brilliant. Had everything and anything you need to camp! The washing facilities and toilets are substantial and upmarket! Cleaned regularly and lovely hot water to shower. Dogs were welcomed and good walks. We would definitely recommend and go back

Disliked Only down side was a bit of road noice but nothing to do with the site itself and didn’t take away from a brilliant stay.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Fantastic campsite. The owners were lovely and checked in on you throughout your stay, ensuring the site was clean and tidy and everyone was happy. The toilets were fantastic and well stocked. Would definitely recommend and visit again in the future.

Disliked A rather small campsite, however it felt open and quiet.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked A beautiful bit of the country. Very reasonably priced. Some lovely touches with the shared BBQ and seating area and a well stocked little shop. The hosts couldn't be more helpful and attentive. Great showers and very clean toilets. Popular but people mainly observed the noise curfew at 10pm, better than at other sites we've been to.

Disliked Hot water for washing up if it were possible would really improve this site for me. It did get very busy the second night (it was bank holiday) so had to queue for toilets etc but they were kept very clean despite this.

Non-electric grass motorhome pitch

Liked Staff were really helpful and kind. It was a busy weekend and although there was sometimes a small queue for the loos they were kept lovely and clean.

Disliked Dogs were not all kept on the lead across the camp. This was inconsistent and seemed unfair to those that kept their dogs on the lead.

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful campsite and Andy and Row were very welcoming and super friendly. The toilets and showers are the best I’ve ever had at a campsite. Andy and Row make it a special experience and are constantly working hard to ensure everyone is happy. Love the camp wall, such a lovely touch. Can’t wait to go back for longer next time, 3 nights was not long enough but came home very relaxed. Well done guys and thank you, you smashed it!
Love the 2 Julies, Yogi and Bear xx

Disliked We had to leave 😢

Non-electric grass tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked We had a fantastic time camping at Arlington Campsite and would therefore highly recommend this site. The facilities such as toilets, showers and washing up area were always clean despite the campsite being busy over the bank holiday weekend. It was good to have a drinking water point on site too. Andy and Row were both so welcoming to the site and were on hand to help throughout the weekend. The campsite features an onsite shop which is well stocked with any essentials you may need including fire wood, marshmallows and BBQ food/meats. The communal BBQ and picnic bench area was a nice touch and really useful too. We also liked how the campsite is in relatively close proximity to a range of pubs a short drive away.

Disliked It is worth noting that this campsite is off a fast country lane which doesn't have a pavement/path which means it's preferable to have a car.

Local attractions

Arlington Speedway Stadium (five minutes’ walk) hosts regular petrolhead events throughout July and August, and right next to the site is a place the kids will hopefully love; Knockhatch Adventure Park (five minutes’ drive) offers go-kart rides, waterslides, raptor displays and animal encounters to keep little minds busy. Close by, you can pre-book for the family to learn to spin plates and juggle at the East Sussex School of Circus Arts (also five minutes). Abbots Wood (five minutes) has a network of scenic walking trails for all the family to stretch their legs. Arlington Reservoir (10 minutes) is another peaceful spot with waterside walks, and nearby you’ll find access to The Cuckoo Trail – a popular cycling route connecting the lively town of Heathfield with Eastbourne (both 15 minutes) on the south coast. For a classic British seaside experience, Eastbourne has a sandy beach, amusement arcades and fish and chIp shops. Just along the A27 from the site is the village of Wilmington (10 minutes), from which you can clamber up to the mysterious chalk figure of the Long Man of Wilmington, possibly dating from around the 16th or 17th centuries and with views across the undulating South Downs.
