Pitches

General

  • Family site over 130 acres of parkland, well placed for Hadrian's Wall
  • Within walking distance of Silloth and close to the Galloway Hills
  • Kids' clubs, play centres, bars and indoor pool with spa

Off to the Lake District, the Scottish Borders or Hadrian's Wall – and want a park with heaps to do on site for your little centurions?

Nearby Solway Holiday Village should fit the bill, as it's a Hagans Leisure park packed with activities and is close to the England/Scotland border with opps for many days out in either land: it's within walking distance of Victorian seaside town Silloth on the Solway Firth with over 20 miles of coastline to cast off at, close to kitesurfing and windsurfing at Allonby and a quick hop around the Firth to Scotland’s Galloway Hills.

The park is spread spaciously over 130 acres of good-looking parkland with heaps of things to do for all sizes and tastes: kids can submerge themselves in the kids’ club and outdoor and indoor play centre, while the whole family can dive into the all-weather sports facilities, family bars, entertainment complex with Sky Sports and fab heated indoor pool with spa. Entertainment passes for the indoor pool and kids' club are included in the pitch price.

Not sure where to start? Pile the crew into Solway’s tourist train for a squint around: you’ll also spot the amusement arcade and tennis courts (small charge applies), and up to date amenities including free heated showers, covered dishwashing area, water points, coin launderette, bistro and takeaway.

If you’re bringing your tent, tourer or motorhome to Solway, the touring area is only five minutes’ walk from reception and is flat and grassy with car parking available beside each pitch.

This site is a member of Hagans Leisure group.

Please note

Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.

Same-sex male or female groups under 30 years of age are not accepted.

Please specify the type and size unit when making a booking.

Entertainment passes are included in the rate.

Please note that there is currently no public access to the farm or the pitch and putt, although the owners hope to have access reopened in the near future.

this is a much better site than the other one owned by hagan leisure in lancashire. I loved having a shower with hot water after being in the pool and the entertainment staff were amusing. The kids daytime entertainment could of been better after paying for a few squidgy bowls of icing and a single cake.internet signal is brilliant.extremely helpful touring pitch male who was in charge my daughter played with his kids.

Just got back from a short break camping. Took a punt considering some of the reviews.

Couldn't have been happier with the site from our welcome at reception to Carl who showed us to our site, all very welcoming.

Kids entertainment was great, swimming pool hot and not to busy.

Soft play area is such a good thing to have due to the incremental weather.

    Disliked:

Was shocked at the bar prices, after being stung the first night for £4.80 for a pint and £1.50 for a packet of walkers crisp, we chose to bring our own snacks and limited the drinks on successive nights. If the bar prices were reasonable, I'd have had no faults with our stay.

Local attractions

On the English side of the Firth, Solway guests can reach the north-western lakes of the Lake District National Park, day trips to Carlisle and the hills and stargazing of Northumberland National Park. On the Scottish side, you could hike the Galloway Hills, run away to Gretna or drive further afield to urban days out at Edinburgh or Glasgow.

(To see it all at once, take a trip to championship Solway Golf Course where you can tee around to views of the Lakeland Fells, Galloway Hills and across to the Isle of Man.)

Moseying towards Northumberland (stop off at Carlisle Castle and The Lanes shopping centre on the way), friends, Romans and countrymen can walk as much of the Hadrian’s Wall Path as they can manage: it’s the north of England’s most visited tourist attraction and most of it runs along the Solway Firth on its way to Northumberland.

Happily for such a family-centred site, kiddish fun is all around Solway Holiday Village too: farm park Orton Grange, getting open-mouthed at the fish and other inhabitants at Lake District Coast Aquarium, or going on a hop around award-winning World of Beatrix Potter.

Must see

  • John Paul Jones Cottage Museum & Visitor Centre (13.3 kilometres)
  • World Famous Old Blacksmith's Shop Centre (24.8 kilometres)
  • Robert Burns Centre (26.1 kilometres)

National Trust

  • Wordsworth House and Garden (23.7 kilometres)
