What customers say

A neat, welcoming spot with proper ablutions and a buzzing pub next door, dishing up lekker grub. Sites are mostly sorted, with picnic tables. Road noise? Some folks mentioned it, but most found it okay. Great value and handy for seeing the sights.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked As a pub stop, it’s fantastic because the pub is right next door! Plus, there’s an electric hookup, fresh water, and a system for disposing of grey water. They also have chemical toilets and a rubbish disposal system.

Disliked The toilet and shower facilities are basic and not very good. The shared area for dishwashing and lounging is also quite run down.

Fully-serviced grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked Bar staff bery polite and friendly, as were the locals we sat amongst whilst enjoying a cold drink, camp site was not busy, only 4 of 10 pitches in use for pur short stay, ny disliks will explain why.

Disliked The side is next to a main road which is noisy and busy from early morning to late night, and there are tractors flying by in the night. No bbq allowed on site was pretty annoying, putches are really small. Toilet and shower is outdated and look scruffy. The food in the pub wasnt up to scratch for the price we paid.

From the manager: Sorry to hear this but the Pitchup advert states the Pitchup size 7x5m so if you think that is to small for you why book ?, also all it takes is asking if you can have a bbq and all we would of said is please make sure it’s off the ground it’s just that Pitchup only let you say yes or no to bbq with no where to explain. We also leave all reviews on this page and if you read some you would of seen that the traffic is heavy Monday to Friday and the Pitchup map pinpoints the site along side a main A road which are notoriously busy. Thanks
Steve

Local attractions

National Trust - Biddulph Grange Garden (15 minutes’ drive) was created in the mid-1800s. In addition to peaceful tree-shaded paths, there is a collection of rhododendrons and the colourful Dahlia Walk, plus themed areas like Egypt (with a topiary pyramid) and the China Garden. Alton Towers (35 minutes) has something for everybody, from vertiginous roller coasters and assorted thrill rides to the gentler, family-orientated attractions at CBeebies Land. On hot summer days, you might want to make a beeline for the waterpark, with its high-speed slides and lazy river. Crossed by canals, Stoke-on-Trent (40 minutes) is renowned for its potteries. Check out the collection of locally produced ceramics at the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, where you can also admire the Staffordshire Hoard, a collection of gold and silver objects dating back to the Anglo-Saxon era. And be sure to have a go at the pottery wheel in one of several cafés and activity centres in town.
