Calling all Caravan and Motorhome Club members… How does a quiet South Yorkshire break with fishing on site sound to you? If that’s the kind of thing you like the idea of, take a look at Moss Carr Farm Certified Location, part of a working farm and fishery just outside the town of Askern.
This is a splendidly peaceful and quiet site that’s reserved for CAMC members only. There’s just a handful of pitches available here, set in a large grass paddock with heaps of space for everyone to spread out and relax. There are no electric hook-ups and no toilet facilities so you’ll need to be quite self-sufficient, but you’re welcome to set up a gazebo, awning or pup tent and to bring along a barbecue for your alfresco dinners.
The fishery is just next to the site, so you’ll only have a short walk to the pond to try your luck with the carp and silver fish that swim in its waters (an extra charge applies for fishing). And if you don’t fancy fishing, you can instead take a walk to a popular village pub or dog-friendly café (both about an hour away) or plan days out to the likes of Doncaster Racecourse and the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.
On the practical front, Doncaster is about 20 minutes’ drive away and nearby Askern (five minutes’ drive/40 minutes’ walk) has a small supermarket, a pub, a bakery and a couple of takeaways.
