What customers say

Brilliant spot, super clean, staff are ace. Toilets & showers spotless, food's great. Pitches spacious, level, well-serviced. Mostly peaceful, but some noise from neighbours. Motorhome waste/water tricky for some. No dogs in bar.

The Paddocks fully-serviced grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Site was immaculate all facilities where very clean and good working order. Showers were where good! Restaurant/bar was good with good menu reasonably priced

Disliked Dogs not allowed in bar/ restaurant except in beer garden I think a section should be made available as most of the caravans/ motorhome had dogs with them

The Paddocks fully-serviced grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked The site was exceptionally clean & tidy, the shower blocks too. Liked the key fob, never had that before on sites, made you feel extra secure & safe throughout our stay, plus you got your money back at the end of our break which was a nice touch.
Our pitch was great, having a fully serviced pitch made all the difference. Very quiet & best nights sleep!
Having a restaurant on site was a bonus compared to other sites we’ve stayed at & the food amazing & good value.
All staff we met were extremely friendly & helpful.

Disliked The only negatives, the site is in the middle of nowhere & having a local bus route would be great…….but we knew this before we came & used the site as a close base to Morpeth where family were.
Would be nice to have free WiFi like other sites.

The Paddocks fully-serviced grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Lovely camp site. More set up for residential caravans. Great pub/grill on site but the regulars have thier seats. Toilet block is very clean and well set out.

Disliked Having to pay a £20 deposit for a fob for entry/exit and toilet block, then having to wait until 9am for reception to open in the morning to get the deposit back. No early start for us. Needs a better system and inform people about this.

The Paddocks fully-serviced grass and gravel touring pitch

Liked Was easy to find where our pitch was when we arrived, we didn't see any staff, but signs were helpful. Quite a small site, so easy to walk around and orienteer yourself. Short walk to the village pub. level pitches.

Disliked Only 1 shower and 2 toilets in 1 block and 1 shower and toilet (all in one) on the other side, for each gender. Not particularly a dislike, but could get busy. Although they were basic and need a couple more strong hooks to hang towel, etc Must take a torch as pointed out in the park information.

Local attractions

Among the highlights at Northumberland National Park are the Drake Stone, a massive sandstone boulder; and Thompson’s Rock, also known as the Solstice Stone due to a hole that runs through it and that aligns with the midsummer sunset. The Simonside Hills are a top place for a hike, and you might spot deer and red squirrels. On a headland overlooking the North Sea, Dunstanburgh Castle (half an hour) now stands in ruins, but it must have been quite the forbidding stronghold in its 14th-century heyday. After checking out its ruined towers, walk into the fishing village of Craster to sample the local delicacy: smoked kippers. Step into the past at Beamish, the Living Museum of the North (45 minutes). This open-air museum recreates a range of settings typical of North-East England, such as a pit village at the turn of the 20th century, a 1940s farm complete with Land Girls, and a 1950s town.
