  • Dog-friendly site with views of Roseberry Topping
  • Just outside the North York Moors; 15 minutes’ drive to Saltburn
  • Five minutes' drive from dining spots and shops in Guisborough
Don’t you worry about finding a place with gorgeous hill views, beaches a short drive away and X – Wyke Lodges and Touring Caravans has got it all sorted. These aren’t just any old views. Here on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, the site faces Roseberry Topping, a partially cone-shaped hill that many say must be the long-lost sibling of Matterhorn in the Alps. A great family venture this may well be, as Wyke Lodges and Touring Caravans prides itself on being a tiptop kid-friendly experience. The facilities include a kids’ park, a washing-up area, wifi and male, female and accessible toilets. There are multiple water points, as well as waste and grey water disposal areas. For dining spots and shops, the market town of Guisborough is just five minutes’ drive away. It's just another bonus that the site has good access to the northeast coast: it's 15 minutes’ drive away from the beach at Saltburn-by-the-Sea, which has the oldest water-balanced cliff tramway in the UK and a historic pier. Staithes and Whitby are within 35 minutes' drive of the site and Scarborough is an hour away. A walk up Roseberry Topping, 10 minutes’ drive away, might also make your Yorkshire bucket list. Make your rounds of market towns like Stokesley, 15 minutes’ drive away, and Yarm, 25 minutes away. Cinemas and other attractions are in Middlesbrough, which is a 20-minute drive or so away. For bigger cities, Durham is 50 minutes' drive away and York is an hour and 15 minutes' drive away.

What customers say

A great spot, clean and friendly with good facilities, lovely views, and walks nearby. Owners are super helpful. Some pitches can be a bit close, and you might hear road noise. Families love it, many keen to come back.

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Location was great for visiting Guisborough and Saltburn

Disliked Facilities were worn and not very clean
It was very expensive for the pitch given the quality of the facilities compared to other places we’ve stayed for cheaper with better facilities
The pitches were very close together and the site was very busy with families with children running around all over the site

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Had a lovely weekend
Took my 2 year old granddaughter and one year old dog this stay
And I was happy with all the facilities
My granddaughter absolutely loved the play area spent lots of time there
The other children there looked after her and played lovely with her
As she was the smallest child there I thought she might be left out but she made lots of friends….
The walk way for the dog was fantastic
Had plenty of space to run around

The amenities are fab all very clean and maintained x

Have booked up for August bank holiday weekend
Looking forward to our return

Disliked Some cars forget to drive slowly around the park
I think a larger sign should be shown

Electric hardstanding touring pitch

Liked Flat pitch, good space between pitches. Hook up.
Nice play area for children
Small cafe (although we didn’t use it as we only stayed overnight)
Very good free WiFi

Disliked Only one toilet block, although it was clean and tidy.
Approach from Nunthorpe direction requires you to go to the next roundabout to turn round. Not a big issue if you know but most visitors won’t be aware that this is possible.
Traffic noise was less than I expected.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Great for our first camping trip with our two young boys. Electricity for camping (tent), we didn’t have a hook up but the owner of the campsite leant us one. This was a novelty for us as we’d never had electricity when camping before but it meant we could keep everything charged up and use a toastie maker! A great play park and a cute little cafe next to it. Really safe for children. Fantastic facilities for showering and a separate family showering/ bathroom room which was extremely handy for the boys (3 and 4 years old). All kept really clean and tidy. Close by for good walks, and a short drive to local beaches.

Electric grass tent pitch

Liked Friendly and relaxed owners
Clean pitches and facilities (immaculate!)
Play area
View
Level pitches
Footpath from campsite
Close to roseberry topping
Wifi

Disliked Road noise - noticed it a lot in the mornings when waking up, noisier than my house!
No fire pits or bbqs (although this was in their rules so we knew about it)
Small pitches and very close to neighbouring pitches
Not a lot of green space - they’ve maximised pitches and a lot of caravans made it feel very busy and crammed in.
No access to fridge/freezer (although owner let us use theirs, it was a bit awkward).
More set up for caravans

Local attractions

Beach day? You’ve got yourself a few options. Staithes (half an hour’s drive) is a worthy spot. Set over a hillside with cobbled streets and old cottages, the village also has a beach with lovely rockpools. You might be lucky enough to uncover a few fossils too. In Whitby (35 minutes), the beach is lined with gorgeous beach huts. Water activities aren’t exclusive to the sea, either. Windsurfing and boat rides are some of the activities at the Tees Barrage Bridge (20 minutes). At Cod Beck Reservoir (25 minutes), there’s no swimming but the water makes for gorgeous hiking views. A hilly climb is also on hand at Carlton Bank (25 minutes), which has moor views to switch things up. A famous figure in these parts is Captain Cook; learn about his journeys at the Captain Cook's Monument (15 minutes) or the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum (15 minutes).
