General

  • Family-run site opened in 2016, near the Suffolk Heritage Coast
  • Wet weather facilities including games barn and picnic tables
  • Modern amenities block with underfloor heating

Owners Maria and Guy at The Croft Campsite in East Anglia know what makes guests tick: they've added heaps of little touches to this popular little site a short drive from the Sussex Heritage Coast.

Opened in 2016, The Croft is a small family-run countryside site with a friendly vibe, high-quality amenities and loads of room to play. It's in the village of Ubbeston, near the market towns of Framlingham and Halesworth, and a couple of miles from the pubs and supermarket in the village of Laxfield.

Help yourself to a tea, coffee or squash when you arrive, then set up in this pleasant spot; the owners are always around if you need any help. And then investigate your surroundings: The Croft has a big field for football, kite flying and general running around, and a barn kitted out with ping pong tables, table football and ride-on toys. The Cart Lodge is a communal space with picnic tables for dining away from your pitch. Four-legged guests can dash about at the dog run area, which stretches to a third of an acre.

Barbecues are held here on Fridays, egg, bacon or sausage rolls are generally available on Sundays, and croissants and pain au chocolat can be ordered every morning. There's no shop, but camping essentials like torches and batteries are available for sale.

Other facilities include a well-kept toilet and shower block, washing-up facilities, chemical disposal and a washing machine and dryer. The owners are happy to charge mobile phones and battery packs for free.

The nearest town to the site is Halesworth, a scenic 15-minute drive away.

The site has a lovely relaxed chilled feel about it as soon as you arrive because of that we booked 2 extra nights as soon as we turned up. Guy and Maria (and their extended family), gave us a very warm welcome and were always happy to stop and chat while they went about the campsite chores but left you alone to enjoy your stay. Plenty of space for children to burn off energy and the site has a separate area for flying kites and outdoor games as well as the go-karts which is a nice touching you like the peace and quiet. Facilities were like new, good showers and kept very clean, loved the heated floor. Breakfast pastries can be ordered the night before and a bbq Friday night and Sunday morning breakfast baps are available. Fire pit is always on our tick list and was a lovely addition to our stay, even in the rain, just wifi in reception and 4G at the pitch which is ok. Would definitely return, probably with the rest of the family next time, our kids would love it, not sure what's in the surrounding area as we weren't looking for a local pub or restaurant.

Was welcomed on arrival by Maria and made to feel at ease instantly. Facilities were clean and the whole place had a relaxed atmosphere that really helped the three kids enjoy their stay. Go karts to explore the fields and a bunny hunt were well thought out touches. Loved our stay and would wholeheartedly recommend to others considering.

Excellent clean camp site. Pitched up where requested.

Very busy Friday and saturday. Usually book adult only an d will consider mid week break next time. This is a personal choice and the site is excellent for families. Bbq was lovely and the fire pits an added bonus.

Lovely area and the pubs at Laxfield are great for a meal.

Will use again and are considering their music festival next year.
