What customers say

A peaceful, well-kept, quiet rural spot with friendly staff & great pub grub. Pitches are level. Basic facilities, but no on-site toilets/showers. Great for Sandringham & coast access. Perfect for a quiet getaway.

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked Lovely small clean well maintained site. Lovely pub on site with delicious home cooked food. Good value for money, EHU option works well - we only spent £3 over our 2 night stay.
Friendly staff in the pub made us feel welcome from the start 😊

Disliked Cockerel starting up at 6.30am each morning, but it’s the countryside and I’d already seen it mentioned on reviews.
No showers or toilets which again we were aware of, toilets available in the pub when open so as long as you’re self contained you’re ok

Electric optional grass touring pitch

Liked Kind, friendly staff. Electricity is paid for in advance but you’re refunded what you don’t use so the pitch cost is incredibly reasonable. Good size pitch. Had a carvery in the pub on the Sunday which was absolutely delicious with great gluten free options.

Villa 3 bedroom static caravan

Liked The place was clean, plenty of room, comfortable, and well maintained.
The hosts were very welcoming and friendly.
Linen was provided and beds made up on arrival which was less to stress about.
We had dinner and breakfast at the pub, and the food was delicious.
The area was so quiet and peaceful, we all got a good nights sleep.
I would absolutely recommend this place to stay and I would definitely stay again.

Disliked There was no selection of tea, coffee, sugar and milk at arrival. This did not impact our stay at all. Just a heads up for others.

Local attractions

There are lots of stately homes in this part of the country: Houghton Hall, Peckover House and Garden and Oxburgh Hall are all roughly 30 minutes’ drive from the Anvil. If you’re feeling particularly royal, the museum, house and gardens at Sandringham Estate, the Queen’s country retreat, are less than 10 minutes’ drive away. The spectacular and well-preserved ruins of Castle Acre Priory and Castle Rising are both within 20 minutes of the site – they may be a little less stately, but they’re certainly still worth exploring. If you need a break from your own country retreat, the museums, gardens, theatres, restaurants and shops of Norwich are an hour’s drive away. The stunning university city of Cambridge is an hour and a half from the Anvil if you feel up to travelling a bit further. The Norfolk coast is within easy reach for seaside getaways with the kids – if they’re looking for something more than sea and sand, bring them to Blakeney Point for a seal-spotting boat trip or explore the Pensthorpe Natural Park. Created some budding birdwatchers? Head over to the Snettisham RSPB Nature Reserve to see if you can spot the bar-tailed godwit or the avocet.
