General

  • Angling site with six lakes and the River Idle alongside
  • Regular match venue for coarse fishing, 30 minutes from Sherwood
  • Tackle shop, central amenities and café and licensed restaurant

Spectacular fishing with mighty scenic views... cast off at Nottinghamshire's Hallcroft Fishery and Caravan Park for angling in seven waters on a spacious and well-equipped park.

Six lakes are at your fishing disposal here, along with yet more angling in the River Idle which runs alongside the site. You can land bream, eels, roach, tench, perch and varying types of carp at these, including at the huge Moat lake which is a regular venue for matches around its 190 pegs; if you fancy your hand at procuring pike, the river's the place to be. And if you need tackle, kit, bait or any angling advice, a shop for the same is right on site.

Hallcroft is two and a half miles from East Retford, about 40 minutes' drive from Newark and half an hour from Sherwood Forest. You can stay solely on site should you so wish: the Kingfisher café and restaurant dishes up full English breakfasts, tea, coffee and toast to sort sustenance before a day's fishing; hot snacks are available some lunchtimes, and evening meals are on offer for after your angling. The restaurant is licensed, to serve boozy beverages during standard pub hours, and a pool table and darts board are to hand too.

There are showers and toilets in the centre of the site, part of a good range of amenities including recycling, chemical disposal, a washing-up area and gas cylinder sales.

Please note

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

The bar and/or restaurant is open between 01/01 et 31/12.

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Minimum spacing of 6 metres between pitches.

Really enjoyed our weekend away with friends and would definitely stay again .
5 out of the 6 were fishing ( myself being the 1 that didn't ) but still found plenty to do .

    Disliked:

The only thing I would say where it could be improved is to have some toilets separate without shower in . As on a morning some people just needed toilet but had to wait while people were using shower .

i love this place - I like to walk my dog and run round the lakes, my grandchildren love the fishing and always catch which is a bonus
clean showers/toilets and very friendly staff

    Disliked:

When we arrived we was given 2 plots next to each other - my son was running late in his own caravan so I saved him a pitch next to me, another family arrived and tried to set up in my sons plot, they explained that the site was full and no where else to pitch, I explained that I was with one grandchild and my son was supposed to be next to me with another 2 grandchildren, the other family was very understanding and eventually found another plot.
The problem here was that no one stuck to the allocated plot and chose to pitch where they wanted to, - no rules for this was observed and implemented
This will not stop me going again though
