General

  • Simple rural Herefordshire site five minutes' drive from Bodenham
  • A 15-minute drive from Hereford and Leominster
  • Dog-friendly site with fishing and Saturday night campfire gatherings

Kingfisher Meadow Camping and Caravanning Park is a simple and laidback site just outside Bodenham in the fine Herefordshire countryside, 15 minutes’ drive from Hereford and handily a couple of minutes’ drive from the A417 for easy getting in and getting out.

All is set up here to make the post of peaceful outdoor life – there’s a sizeable pond on site for fishing and wildlife-spotting, and the site is surrounded by field and farmland. There's lots of scope to stroll or cycle nearby (with a canine companion if you’ve brought one along – they’re welcome on site), with the Malvern Hills and Wye Valley within easy reach, and plenty of other options for days out – maybe Ludlow, Worcester, Bromyard or Ross-on-Wye might be on the list?

Barbecues and campfires are both allowed on site (with firepits and logs to hire), and there’s a special campfire evening in the woods on Saturday nights, where everyone’s invited to gather round a big blaze for a sociable evening by the flames. For non-flame-grilled meals, there are a couple of country pubs within a 10-minute drive.

Great campsite with friendly, helpful guy running it. Arrived with only one other set of guests on site and for a few nights were the only people on site which was lovely and peaceful. We camped at pitch 19 next to the playground which our 2.5 year old loved running around in whilst we got set up. There is a pond with bridges which he enjoyed exploring with supervision, however this area is gated off so we didn't have to worry about him going there on his own.

Despite a storm on our first night we were a little more sheltered on the far end of the site instead of being on the hard standing at the top near the entrance. On the nicer evenings we enjoyed using the on site fire pits and firewood. The on site toilets and sinks were basic, but clean and tidy. Remember to take your own toilet roll! All COVID procedures were in place to keep everyone safe. Phone signal was fine.

Stunning views and extremely friendly staff who couldn't do more to help. The play area is beautiful as is the wooded and pond areas. Plenty of space to pitch and very easy to find. It was raining during our stay, so didn't get to partake in the communal fire pit, which we have seen from other reviews and looks amazing. Cannot wait to come back.

    Disliked:

Usually we find that there is toilet paper provided by the camp, however, there was none provided. Not a major issue as we had some just in case, and the shops were a short ride away if we hadn't, but worth keeping in mind.
