  • Well-maintained Herefordshire cabin with gorgeous rural views
  • Hay-on-Wye 10 minutes' drive away; 35 minutes to Hereford
  • Hot tub, firepit, kingsize bed and ensuite shower room
The part of Herefordshire that’s right on the England/Wales border is a fine place to settle down for a scenic break – from Wye Valley Cabins, in a pretty spot of its own on Brilley mountain, you’ll be able to look out over some wide-ranging views on both sides of the border, including the Wye Valley, the Black Mountains and the Malvern Hills. Perhaps unsurprisingly, this location is also a great one for getting out to see some of your surroundings in closer detail, whether you choose to take a walk along Offa’s Dyke Path or hike up to the summit of Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales. Horse riding, canoeing and bike rides are also options for getting out into the local area – or you could simply head into Hay-on-Wye (10 minutes’ drive) to bimble around the bookshops. Of course, all of this assumes you’re even able to leave the site – and you might find that tricky, given how lovely the cabin is. Inside, it’s been fitted out with a kingsize bed, an ensuite shower room, a TV, a woodburning stove and a small kitchen with a fridge, microwave and gas stove. And outside? Well, you might decide that’s even better – because that’s where you have the firepit and the hot tub, where you can bubble away while gazing up into the starry skies. Bed linen, towels, firewood and a hair dryer are all provided, plus a lovely luxury touch in the form of robes and slippers. If all this has left you too relaxed to contemplate cooking, you may find it useful to know that there are several local restaurants that will deliver dinner to the cabin…
