  • Dog-friendly Buckinghamshire village site with simple facilities
  • Five minutes' drive to a country park or a station for London trains
  • Doggie daycare on site; pub and food shop within walking distance
Bag yourselves a Buckinghamshire break at Stokes Poges Campsite and you'll be in one of those excellent locations that mixes up easy access to rural activities with the convenience of staying in a village. As you may have guessed, the village in question is Stoke Poges, a smart place with a food pub and a small supermarket as well as bus stops with services to several handy nearby spots including Slough, where you can connect with mainline train services. For urban outings, it's also easy to get into London via the railway station in Gerrards Cross (five minutes' drive away) – the train journey takes less than half an hour, making this a useful place to know about for those planning a country break with a dip into the capital. And what about those country outings? Well, there are treetop courses and lakeside walks at Black Park Country Park, five minutes’ drive away, and you can go kayaking around the canals of Colne Valley Regional Park (15 minutes’ drive). There are several golf courses within easy reach too, and plenty of open spaces where you can take the dog for a walk. Speaking of dogs, they're very welcome here as long as they’re kept on a lead. There’s also a doggie daycare facility on site (open Monday to Friday) for those times when you're out visiting an attraction where they can’t come along for the ride. Other guest facilities on site include portable toilets, rubbish bins and drinking water taps where you can keep those bottles topped up.

What customers say

Great for wild camping near London. Reviewers loved the quiet, space, and friendly owners. Downsides: basic loos (some dirty/broken), missing amenities, inconsistent access, and a bit unkempt.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Access at all times with lock codes.

Disliked Im sorry, I don’t like to be negative but this stay was not great.
Infrastructure and facilities at the site was poor. The main toilet block was locked so we had no facilities. In the morning we found a toilet locked with the same gate code but it looked like a dungeon.
If I’d known the conditions on site I would not have booked.
The site feels very overpriced for the quality of the facilities.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked Choice to camp in field or wood is great, and the ability to pitch wherever you want was fantastic. Great pub 5 mins walk around the corner.

Disliked The woods (where we pitched) were rather shabby and full of discarded rubbish - which was a shame - really only needs a few hours for someone to tidy up. Toilets were awful - light wasn't working in either the mens or the womens. No toilet roll in the mens and my wife got trapped in the womens toilet because the door got stuck.

Samantha O.

Non-electric grass touring pitch

Liked The quietness and access to what we needed to get to.
Owners did come to check and were happy to be contacted if needed.

Disliked Seems expensive for very minimal facilities, compared to one I previously booked last year which at least had full / clean toilets and a tidier field. (Same price)
The bins don’t look like they’ve been emptied in a long time.
